This is strictly for the Pokemon Games, nothing about the anime please and thank you.

Nintendo has confirmed a 2009 release for Pokémon Heart Gold & Soul Silver, DS remakes of the principal Generation II Pokémon games, Gold & Silver, which were originally released for the Game Boy Color in 1999 in Japan. Speculated by fans to be in development since the release of Pokémon Fire Red & Leaf Green, the remakes will take gamers back to the Johto region, found west of Kanto — this time as Generation IV games.
The games will most likely be able to link to Diamond, Pearl, & Platnium as shown by game data.
HeartGold and SoulSilver will be released in Japan this fall, possibly on or near Nov. 21, the 10th anniversary of the original release of their namesakes. International releases will likely come in mid-2010.

Johto fans rejoice! Rejoice... << >>

*rejoices like crazy*

WOHOOO!!! I can hardly wait to use that pokégear again *Yes Kids, get your Pokégear today, it shows you maps of where you are, you can listen to music on it, it even acts as a nice little phone to keep in touch with family, friends and trainers who think can kick your ass in a rematch... So go and get your Pokégear TODAY! Note: The Pokégear does not support any Poké Dex options, customizing/kitbashing your Pokégear to include the Pokédex is illegal*

But yeah... I have been hoping for a while for a Gold and Silver remake, especially due to those hints/nods to Johto that Diamond and Pearl has been throwing out

I've been hoping since FireRed & LeafGreen were announced and the remakes couldn't have come at a better time. This news had prompted me to replay my old Silver game for kicks, saved and took a look to see if it did save. My silver can't hold a save anymore )= Thank you Game Freak! Thank you Nintendo! Welcome back Johto!

The PokeGear is my favorite gadget to use as opposed to the PokeNav. The Poketch came close, especially Plat's revamped Poketch 2.0. But the phone and radio feature I still adore. Heck, if they want to, make the VS Seeker as a Pokegear app and give it a Poketch-like treatment in the bottom screen.

While I'm not the biggest fan of remakes I guess i'll keep an open mind about it. Also I do hope they add some new stuff to it!

Moriamur
05-09-2009, 06:44 PM
Well they BETTER include the Orange Islands into the remakes... I mean they could had done that in FireRed and LeafGreen, but instead we gotten the ooohhh so small and rather BORING (not to mention very frustrating) Sevii Islands >_<'

Moriamur

good thing I don't owe anyone a battle...

or do I..?

Dun Dun DUUUUN..!

Okay... Something pokémon related... Hmmm... Okay, how do you lot feel about the Japanese releases of Gold, Silver and Crystal being able to get the GS Ball to catch Celebii (via that event) while that feature was removed for the USA/Europe releases of the games (and having to get Celebii either via Nintendo event, hack a GS ball or hack a Celebii via a gameshark)?

heeroyuy236
05-09-2009, 08:08 PM
For the US I can understand because the event to do the GS Ball thing was done with cell phones, moreso with Crystal I recall, and American cell phones at the time weren't sophisticated enough to support that kind of technology. While Celebi is something you would need for a Pokedex entry, IMO its not a necessity. I don't plan on training a Celebi even if I wanted to. Mew on the other hand << >> -grins-

Moriamur
05-09-2009, 08:31 PM
I think that only Crystal had that feature to get the ball via the cellphone internet

And aaah yes... Mew, once I gotten him, he replaced Mewtwo on my team in Red... Fun days those days... Heck I even remember defeating Gary the first time in Red with only a Moltress on my team, low on HP (he only needed 1 hit and I could start all over again... Not to mention my battery was running low/on empty)... Gods I did Fly after Fly to beat his last few pokémon (since my powerhouse Venosaur was killed off)

A small update, the games have been officially announced today via Pokemon Sunday, a variety show that airs Sunday mornings on TV Tokyo, Japan. Not much has been revealed yet, more details will likely come when CoroCoro magazine is released next week, but some pictures have been leaked. I can't hot link them directly due to the website's right-click filter, so you'll have to check it out yourselves. http://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/pics.shtml

There might be videos on youtube later like they do for our weekly Toku shows. So stay tuned.

A sneak preview of the HGSS scans of Corocoro Magazine has been released today via Japanese imageboards. Not much is known yet, except we see the redesigns for the male and female characters you'll likely get to choose from. Gold, the boy trainer looks loosely the same but in different clothes. The PokeGear has been redesigned as well. The female trainer however looks radically different from the girl you can choose from in Crystal, either Crystal dyed her hair or its a new girl entirely. The leaked scans also show the various new Pokemon art by Ken Sugimori, as well an indication that a particular event involving odd Pichu from the anime's 12th movie might be included. Expect more updates later when translators decipher these scans or when better ones come out.

Here are the scans, adding the original Gold & Crystal designs for comparison.

Also, which ever character you choose, the other will play a support role similar to Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald, and Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum. (Thank you Serebii)

More HGSS updates, and some future Japanese Platinum events news.

Thanks to True-Gaming.net, an Arabic site, some images from Famitsu magazine have been released. Also, some close-up cellphone shots have been taken of CoroCoro Comic. The Famitsu magazine images have shown multiple aspects of the game. The pages show a new 3D selection screen for the starters, new overworld sprites for them, and a small shot of the bottom screen, which has a different interface than the PokeGear. It also shows some information on the Pikachu-colored Pichu event. It apparently triggers an event when it is traded to Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. A 3D screenshot of inside Sprout Tower is also seen.
The magazine also mentions that the Arceus obtained from the twelfth movie distributions will have in-game effects in Platinum. According to Serebii.net, it simply completes the story of Arceus.

well, considering that Heart Gold and Soul Silver ARE the remakes of the original Gold and Silver games, I would say that the Red Gyarados is in the game... Especially since Diamond and Pearl happens in the same time frame as Gold and Silver...

Or so I have heard

And a good looking scan indeed... So now we have a top notch Pichu AND a Pikachu colored/alternative shiny Pichu..? Sweet... And damn if Arceus doesn't look badass in that shot, cause he looks badass... And very graceful

EDIT: wait... Is Chikorita the tallest of the 3 Starter types of the Johto region with Cyndaquil the shortest..? That is kind of hard to believe, especially since they all appear to be of the same length in the anime (back during the Johto travels)

Oh no, that's not what it meant with those versions at all. I mean, what ever character you choose, the one you don't choose will have a role like the unchosen characters for RSE and DPPt. In RSE, if you chose the boy/girl,the girl/boy will be the Professor's daughter/son, likewise in DPPt, if you chose the girl/boy, the boy/girl will be the Professor's assistant.

The cutscenes in FRLG are those little tidbits that showed what certain places looked like physically when you enter those places, like Viridian Forest or Victory Road.

I don't think the technology of the DS can merge all those games together in one cartridge.

Nothing new, but the official Japanese website updated confirming the following information and has clearer images than those seen in the two magazines.

The official Japanese Pokémon website has recently updated with new information about Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The site includes new Pokémon and character artwork, game screenshots and more.
The release date of the game in Japan is on Fall 2009. The site include details about the Generation II starter pokemon, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile, and new artwork for them. New artwork can also be seen for the Version mascots, Lugia and Ho-Oh, and for the player characters, Gold and Soul, the new girl player character.
The site also provided screenshots seen on the images from CoroCoro. It features a screenshot of how choosing the starter Pokemon will be like. It also shows that the PokeGear will be redesigned with a new layout and pops up when X or Start is pressed. This new navigation system will be accessed on the touch screen. Two images show that the player's starter will follow them, much like Pikachu did in Yellow. The final screenshot shows that an images will appear once again when entering a new area, similar to FireRed and LeafGreen.
Another one of the site's updates confirms that the Pikachu-colored Pichu will unlock an event involving the Notched-ear Pichu. It will occur near the Ilex Forest Shrine.
A third update confirms that the special Arceus to be given away starting June will have an effect in Platinum.

More HGSS News & Important Platinum Event News for the Australian & European members.

The PokeWalk

PokeWalk is a new bit of hardware which is said to be bundled in with Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver. This bit of hardware is special in that it will allow you to transfer one Pokemon from your HGSS games onto PokeWalk. As PokeWalk is a pedometre, when you walk about, your Pokemon will slowly raise level and happiness. This will allow you to raise your Pokemon as you go about your daily lives.

However, that is not all. As you play on your PokeWalk, you will occassionally come across mini-games of sorts. These mini-games will have an effect on your HGSS games. One includes finding of items while you're walking. These include items such as Potions. You will also sometimes come across wild Pokemon while you play. It is currently unknown if you have to battle them in the same manner as the main games.

The PokéWalker has both the shape and colors of a regular Monster Ball/Poke Ball. It has at least three buttons and a black and white interface. It will allow players of HeartGold and SoulSilver to transfer their Pokémon there. The Pokémon gain experience points and happiness as players walk, somewhat similar to the toys based on the Digivice of the Digimon series. This pedometer may be a remake of Pokemon Pikachu 2, a toy that can be used to obtain Mystery Gifts in Gold, Silver, and Crystal. It is currently unknown if this will be available outside of Japan.

The Secret Key Event

The Secret Key WiFi event will begin tomorrow(today?) in Europe and Australia. This event allows you to download the Secret Key over WiFi using the Mystery Gift feature in Pokemon Platinum. With the Secret Key you can go to a new room in Eterna City's Galactic Building and access special appliances in the room to change Rotom's forms. This WiFi event will only last until July 19th so be sure to get it while it lasts.

I've been known about this event for some time, but I didn't report until now because Serebii.net has been advertising it as an event for Australia until now and I wasn't sure if there were any Aussie members here. If there are, I apologize for I didn't know. The event did come to the US earlier, but I'm not sure if its still going on. For more details, you can check this page out regarding Rotom's alternate forms. http://www.serebii.net/platinum/rotom.shtml

As for the PokeWalk, it sounds nice, but I honestly don't think it'll be necessary. That's just me.

This month's CoroCoro has been released and with it more HGSS news.

Another set of images from CoroCoro were recently released, revealing more information on Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The things shown here include new artwork for Professor Elm, Silver, & the female Team Rocket Grunt, appearing more like they did in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Sprites
(http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/CoroCoro_reveals_more_information_on_HeartGold_and _SoulSilver#) for both the characters Gold and Silver can also be seen.
One image reveals that three of the legendary Pokemon of Hoenn — Groundon, Kyogre and Rayquaza — will also be available in the games. Upon beating the Elite Four of Johto, Kyogre and Groudon can be caught HeartGold and SoulSilver, respectively. Their location is currently unknown. Once both Pokémon are brought together in either HeartGold or SoulSilver, Rayquaza can be encountered.
A third image shows a picture of Cynthia and apparently in includes more on the legend of Arceus.
The fourth image shows Arceus and Cynthia together in an unknown place in HeartGold and SoulSilver where there are three symbols on the floor. One of the characters in the image is saying, "They were given the right to choose one life out of three" with no additional context.

And just like that more HGSS news from CoroCoro. Thank you Bulbagardens.

A new image has surfaced from people from 2ch who have copies of CoroCoro. It states that the Tanabata event Jirachi, previously available by entering the Pokemon Daisuki Club's raffle, will be available at selected McDonald's restaurants from June 19 to July 17 to all players of the Japanese version of DPPt. Screenshots from the upcoming WiiFare game Melee! Pokemon Scramble! also appear at the bottom of the page. The game will be available for DS Download Play around the same time as the Jirachi event. Rumors say that a Jirachi can be obtained from the said game and trading it it to HeartGold and SoulSilver will unlock a new area called Edge of the Night Sky. Another two scans from CoroCoro also surfaced, revealing the boxes for HeartGold and SoulSilver. They are a bit bigger due to the PokeWalker being included. The cover shows different artworks of Ho-Oh and Lugia from the ones found on the official Japanese site. Behind them is the map of Johto, with the Tin Tower and Whirl Islands being included on the cover of HeartGold and SoulSilver, respectively.

The boxart can be seen here: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/zeromanexe/CoroCoro_6_10_scan_6.png

As speculated earlier, cleaner scans have turned up and a boat load of confirmation for the upcoming Gold and Silver remakes.

Clearer scans from CoroCoro have recently surfaced, revealing and clarifying more information on Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. They include new game screenshots, events, artworks and more.

As reported the past two days, new artworks for the characters Professor Elm, Silver and the female Team Rocket Grunt were revealed. The more complete scan adds the updated artwork of the male Team Rocket Grunt to the list. The Pokédex has also been redesigned. Two models are shown; pink for the female character and red for the male character. A battle between Gold and his rival, Silver, is also seen, revealing Gold's new back sprite and Silver's new sprite.

The touch screen will be more utilized in the games. There are screenshots which show the newly designed Pokédex, PC Box and Pokémon Status screen which use the touch screen more in navigation. The redesigned interface of the bag also utilizes the same feature.

A new artwork of the map of Johto was also shown in the background. It confirms that players can head east towards Kanto and it also shows through Route 28 and Mt. Silver. It also shows a new area west of the National Park. An artwork for Ecruteak City is also shown, including the Tin and Brass Towers.

More game screenshots were seen, such as the interior of Professor Elm's laboratory and Slowpoke Well, Cherrygrove Town, Ruins of Alph and the Johto Radio Tower.
Screenshots of Steelix, Wobbuffet and Kecleon following the player can also be seen. Trainers can talk to their Pokémon any time to know what they feel, similar to Pokémon Yellow, though it was only exclusive to the starter Pokémon of the player, and doesn't show a dialogue between the Pokémon and its Trainer. CoroCoro mentions that all 493 Pokémon are capable of following players.
The scans also confirm the in-game events involving Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza, and Cynthia and Arceus. It also mentions that the Pikachu-colored Pichu will trigger an event featuring the Notched-ear Pichu in the Ilex Forest.

Pre-orders for the games begin on July 4th. Players who pre-order HeartGold or SoulSilver will get a Ho-Oh or Lugia figure, respectively, or an Arceus figure if both games were pre-ordered.
A clearer image featuring Jirachi has also appeared. It confirms that the Tanabata event Jirachi will be available for download in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum from June 19 to July 17, similar to the Pikachu-colored Pichu. It is a Level 5 Jirachi holding a Liechi Berry with the moves Wish, Confusion, Rest and Draco Meteor, a move exclusive for Dragon-type Pokémon through move tutor. It will be a Wi-Fi event at DS Download Stations and Nintendo Zone areas in Japan. The Jirachi is said to unlock something once traded to HeartGold or SoulSilver.

Lastly, another scan shows more features of the PokéWalker. It also shows how HeartGold and SoulSilver will look like when a Pokémon is going to be sent to it.

New HGSS tidbits & an European Nintendo Event.

A scan of the magazine CoroCoro has been leaked by people from 2ch.net and the blog HeartDrop. It reveals new artwork of several Pokémon, as well as a non-playable character. It also shows new features in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, including the Johto map.
The scan shows new artwork of the Pokémon Entei, Raikou and Suicune, as well as Eusine, a character who only appeared in Pokémon Crystal. This confirms his appearance in the games HeartGold and SoulSilver. Overworld sprites of the said Pokémon in the Brass Tower can also be seen. Part of Lugia's sprite can also be seen. Entei, Raikou and Suicune will be able to be caught at level 40.
Another scan, along with Pokémon Sunday footage, revealed Pokéthelon, a touchscreen-based racing game, and a few other unknown minigames. The level 1 Dialga, Palkia and Giratina only available by trading Arceus to the games can know the special moves Metal Burst, Hydro Pump and Shadow Sneak, respectively. Ho-Oh and Lugia will also be available at level 45 in the Tin Tower and Whirl Islands, respectively, and the red Gyarados will be available at level 30 in the Lake of Rage. It appears that it will be raining when it is encountered.

After more than year since the start of the distribution of Regigigas in Japan, as well the the distributions in North America and South Korea earlier this year, the European sites for the special event-only Regigigas have opened up.
This Regigigas will be distributed at level 100. It will be in a Cherish Ball, and it will hold the Custap Berry. It will know the moves Iron Head, Rock Slide, Icy Wind and Crush Grip. It will be available to players of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, unlike previous distributions which only allowed players to obtain it in Diamond or Pearl due to the unavailability of Platinum. No distribution dates have been revealed.
Once the Regigigas is traded or obtained in Platinum, it will allow players to unlock the legendary Pokémon Regirock, Regice and Registeel at level 30. They can be only found in the Rock Peak, Iceberg and Iron Ruins, respectively, when the special Regigigas is in the party.

I'll post the CoroCoro scans later and maybe the Pokemon Sunday segment too when better scans turn up.

New Pokemon Event for the US!

Attention, Platinum Trainers! Darkrai is the newest Pokemon to be discovered in Pokmon Platinum. There's only one way to locate Darkrai in Sinnoh, and that's by using the Member Card! The Member Card will be available to players only from August 3rd to September 13th via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Learn more about Darkrai and how to get the Member card at pokemonplatinum.com ! (Warning = Flash Site)

The Member Card, an event-only key item that allows players to go to Newmoon Island to encounter the legendary Darkrai, will be distributed via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection from Aug. 3 to Sept. 13. This is the first time it will be distributed to players of the North American version of Pokémon Platinum.
In order to obtain Darkrai, players must have unlocked the National Pokédex in their Platinum game. They must have also approached Cresselia on Fullmoon Island and obtain the Lunar Wing when she leaves.
The Member Card can then be used outside the Harbor Inn in Canalave City. Upon entering, players will encounter a man who will send them sleeping. They will then wake up on Newmoon Island where a Level 50 Darkrai will be available. It will know the moves Hypnosis, Faint Attack, Nightmare and Double Team. The event can be repeated if ever players fled or defeated Darkrai.

This key item was first distributed to players of the Japanese version of Platinum last Dec. 1, 2008 to Jan 15.

I don't know if this extends to Diamond & Pearl as well, but I'll try it anyway.

New and confirming information for HGSS, the special Weavile being distributed during the worldwide video game finals, and the Regigigas event now available in Spain and the Netherlands.

After almost a month, another set of scans from CoroCoro was released. The scans reveal new features to be introduced in the upcoming games Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, as well as the return of several features from Pokémon Gold and Silver. The latest scans revealed that Apricorns, a feature introduced in the original Generation II games, will return in their Generation IV remakes. Much like before, the Apricorns can be given to Kurt in Azalea Town so that he can make some special Poké Balls. Specifically, this refers to the Fast Ball, Friend Ball, Heavy Ball, Lure Ball, Love Ball, Level Ball, and Moon Ball, whose sprites can be seen in a scan. None of these balls have been seen since Gold and Silver, although their effects have been replicated in some of the newer Poké Balls. A new container called the Apricorn Case will allow the growth of Apricorns while moving about. Watering Apricorns there will also be visible now.
The Mystery Egg given players at the beginning of the game will also make a return. The Pokémon inside the egg, however, has yet to be confirmed.
The Bug-Catching Contest at the National Park is also confirmed to reappear. There will also be a Safari Zone west of Cianwood City.
The scans also show that a Battle Frontier will be included to the west of Olivine City. No information on facilities or Frontier Brains is currently available.
Much like the episode of Pokémon Sunday this week, a scan reveals that the region Kanto will be in the games. Players may use the Magnet Train or the S.S. Aqua to go between the regions Kanto and Johto.
New events, as previously reported, include the appearance of Rayquaza in the game. It will be at level 50 and will require both Groudon and Kyogre for it to be available. Both of these Pokémon have been confirmed to appear in SoulSilver and HeartGold, respectively.
The battle sprite for the legendary Pokémon Raikou can be seen. This leaves Suicune the only legendary beast whose sprite remains unseen.

Lastly, another scan reveals a few details on the Pokémon Video Game World Champions for 2010.
HeartGold and SoulSilver will be released on Sept. 12 in Japan.

Much like the distribution of the Pokémon Lucario last year, the Sharp Claw Pokémon Weavile will be distributed on Aug. 15, the last day of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and Video Game World Championships.

The distribution will be available to players of six versions of the games Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., players of the English-language, Italian and German versions of the games can the obtain Weavile. It can be obtained from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. by players of the French, Spanish and Japanese versions.
The Lucario distributed last year had the moves Force Palm, Bone Rush, Sunny Day and Blaze Kick to somewhat represent sunny California, the location of the championships. On the other hand, no other information on the Weavile is currently available.
Nintendo of Europe is sponsoring a series of event-only Regigigas distributions in the Netherlands and Spain. Both countries' download periods will end Aug. 30.

In the Netherlands, Regigigas will be distributed Aug. 29-30 during the Pokémon Day 2009 event at Walibi World in Biddinghuizen.
Spain will get two more distributions, the first from Aug. 15-16 in Torredembarra, Tarragona, and the second from Aug. 29-30 in Sitges, near Barcelona.
The distributions in Spain began July 11-12 in Barbate, Cádiz. Other downloads were offered July 18-19, July 25-26 and Aug. 1-2 in Punta Umbria, Huelva, Torrox, Málaga and A Coruńa, respectively.
No distribution dates for other European countries have been announced.
Thanks to Rctgamer3 for the tip about the Netherlands distribution.

This is the same Regigagas that's being distributed in the UK.

...Wait... So it is now Regigigas..?

Last time I checked, it was Shaymin

heeroyuy236

It could be both maybe. Shaymin and Regiggias were originally distributed together during the Japan and US releases. Its possible their events could coincide with each other elsewhere. That or Shaymin's event already expired.

Well it is official... Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver have been released in Japan today! Whee!

So, um, for spoilers of what the games has and doesn't, I won't post them here. But if you're interested you can always check out Serebii.net and PokeBeach. From what I see right now, players who have the leaked/pre-ordered games are in the Kanto portion of the game so expect that kind of coverage should you check out these sites out. I believe a guy named Marriland will be making walkthrough videos on his Youtube channel and some coverage on his website. His site has an excellent team calculator where it weighs the strengths and weaknesses your team have for the 4th gen games.

All I can say in a nutshell, I want these games like now. Happy hunting trainers!

Here's the forementioned websites.

The North American release date of Heart Gold and Soul Silver is aimed for Spring 2010, you can preorder them at Game Stop and possibly other game stores too for a pick-up date on April Fools. The European release date may be at the same time frame or a bit later.

And to those who want a Shaymin in North America and Europe for their Platinum games, there is an active event happening now to Nov 8 via WiFi in a similar matter of how the Darkrai event occured by downloading Oak's Letter.

heeroyuy236
10-16-2009, 08:24 PM
Nintendo Power has revealed the Arceus event dates for players of the American versions of the Pokémon games Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. The event will take place Nov. 7-15 at Toys "R" Us stores in the United States and Puerto Rico. The event will be distributed via Mystery Gift, similar to all previous Generation IV distributions.

Arceus, the Alpha Pokémon, is a Normal-type legendary Pokémon. It is currently the final Pokémon in the National Pokédex. Like Darkrai and Shaymin before it, Arceus was not officially recognized by Nintendo until the year of its debut. It was later revealed by the official Pokémon site last Aug. 3, making all Pokémon in the games officially revealed.

Following the trend of most event Pokémon released outside Japan, the Arceus to be distributed will most likely be the same as the ones first distributed this year. If this would be the case, it would be in a Cherish Ball at level 100. It would hold the Rowap Berry and a Classic Ribbon, and it would know the moves Roar of Time, Spacial Rend, Shadow Force and Judgment, the signature moves of Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and itself, respectively. Bringing the Arceus to the the Ruins of Alph in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver later on will allow players to unlock an event that will allow them to obtain a level 1 Dialga, Palkia or Giratina.

Looking forward to this release... ARCEUS!

The possible North American release date for Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver may be March 14 2009 according to Amazon.com. The cover artwork for the games have been released as well but take this with a grain of salt until Nintendo gives the definite word. The games will be released in South Korea on February 4th 2010. Nothing has been revealed for the Australian and European release dates except the projected Spring 2010. The games will be bundled with the pedometer device Pokewalker where you can level up one pokemon outside the game and possibly catch others in there as well.

Thank you serebii.net and Bulbapedia.

heeroyuy236
05-09-2010, 03:01 AM
Yeah they are most likely the starters for Black and White. The way they look is kind of weird to me but I'm sure things would be different once they are fully revealed either by CoroCoro leaks or the next Pokemon Sunday or so. So far I think its either grass (left) fire (top) and water (right) or fire (left) grass (top) and water (right). I'm more interested in what secondary types they might have if they have any.

Moriamur
05-09-2010, 03:12 AM
Same here... Although if I may be very honest... I kind of wish that for Black and White, they would change the Pokémon types around... Instead of doing Water type, Grass type and Fire type for starters (nice Rock-Paper-Sissors effect here) why not doing something like start off with Fight type, Psycho type and Dark type for starters (also a nice R-P-S effect here) with their last evo having Grass, Fire, Water as a second type...

Of course this is just my honest opinion and they were saying that they (the creators) kind of wanted to do things a liiiittle bit differently for Black and White... Oh well... We'll see what happens once Corocoro or the next Pokemon Sunday comes along

heeroyuy236

The leaks are here! And.. see for yourself!

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/7/78/Corocoro7.jpg

A scan from the June 2010 issue of the magazine CoroCoro has appeared online, revealing various information on the upcoming games Pokémon Black and White.

According to the scan, the first Generation V games will be set in the region known as 「イッシュ」 Isshu, which is quite a distance away from all previous regions. The magazine scan implies that the region is a foreign place that must be traveled to by boat or airplane.

The new playable characters are also presented. They are stated to be more grown-up than past protagonists, and both are wearing devices on their wrists that may be the successor of the Pokégear, PokéNav and Pokétch.

Finally, the scan also shows the starters of Pokémon Black and White; as in previous generations, the starters are Grass-, Fire-, and Water-type. The starters' names have yet to surface in a scan, though PokéBeach reports that they are possibly 「ツタージャ」 Tsutaaja, 「ポカブ」 Pokabu, and 「ミジュマル」 Mijumaru, though these have yet to be confirmed.

As expected, early scans of CoroCoro magazine's May 15th issue have surfaced on Japanese image boards and have fully revealed the three starter Pokemon of Pokemon Black and White. The rest of the magazine's pages have yet to be posted, but we'll keep on the lookout and post them as soon as they are leaked! Click the thumbnail to the right for a larger image. Thanks go to my college friend DorianBlack for the translations below.

* The region's name is "Isshu" (イッシュ) and is located very far away. One of its cities is shown in the top left of the scan.
* The main characters are older than ever before; they are not children.
* From a separate source, the Pokemon's names might be Tsutaaja (ツタージャ), Pokabu (ポカブ), and Mijumaru (ミジュマル). "Tsuta" means "ivy." "Bu" relates to "pig." "Mijuku" means "immature" and "maru" means "round" or "ball." Again, these are not the confirmed names yet. The magazine scan does not mention their names.
* So it looks like we have some sort of reptile, a fire pig, and a sea otter.

Interesting... I'll hold my breath until I see their final forms. But the grass type is far more appealing than the rest. I really detest pigs especially after reading George Orwell's Animal Farm and the water type looks like a Pretty Cure mascot.... I really like the grass type though. Looks like a mix of a swan and peacock.

-edit- Upon looking at them closer the grass type actually is a lizard as opposed to a bird... but I still like it. Maybe it'll adopt bird features?

Moriamur
05-12-2010, 06:40 PM
Well... Guess I was kind of right concerning that dragon ish looking shadow... I mean technically speaking, dragons are lizards...

But really... ANOTHER lizard as a Grass Starter..?

Oh well, however a pig as a fire type..? That is a new one... the otter/beaver one looks rather dopy...

Okay, so a whole new region that is actually foreign, only accessable by either boat or plane and the Pokémon trainer being older then the previous ones..?

I like... I like, it is definately a change from the other games of Pokémon

And like ZC, I am looking forward to the full evolutions of these 3 new Pokémon... Just please tell me that Black and White are literally a whole new beginning with only 150 pokémons that can be found in the new region (so no Pikachu or any of the others... Well apart from maybe Scyther and Eevee... And Murkrow... >_>)

Okay, the new Professor for Black and White is a woman (SCORE!!! Finally a woman), the new bird type is literally a flying rat/pidgeon... We have some oddball looking ball pig thingy, another rodent fodder...

Some grinding gears, some sort of weird assed looking gorilla, a kickass looking Zebra that can easily be seen as a Dark Type (please give that Zebra's final evo a Dark type as second dual type), a new Croc poké

As for the new Dragons... Fire Dragon and Electric Dragon... Okay, anyone with a Water pokémon who knows Ice moves can kill that fire dragon... Same goes to the ground type lol

As for that Pokedex... Uuuuhhhh... Yeah... I miss the old 2 Pokédex designs from the Kanto and the Johto regions, those looked cool

http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon.shtml

Since its just the sprites shown, I'm not going to be making judgements just yet, but the group shown here I'm not quite feeling just yet. Only their names are known as well so its hard to be making a concrete conclusion.

I do like the concept of the triple battles if they are similar to double battles. It adds more flair and strategy to the game. I've been hearing rumors that the plot for the gym leaders and elite four won't be as important as they have been before, taking these rumorss as a grain of sailt.

Two things! 1) B&W News, 2) Special Latios & Latias event

1) Black & White updates
http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/New_Black_and_White_info_revealed

A new video has revealed more new information from Pokémon Black and White, including some of its linking functions with the C-Gear and aspects of the battle system. The C-Gear's functions, previously described, are shown in detail, with a new feature known as "HiLink" revealed. This feature will allow players nearby to appear in the overworld in another player's game.
A new feature known as Pokémon Musical (ポケモンミュージカル), a possible successor to the Pokémon Super Contests featured in the Sinnoh-based Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, was also shown, with a similar dress-up function to the Generation IV games.
Two new Pokémon were also shown for the first time: a deerlike Pokémon which remains unnamed, and ミルホッグ Miruhoggu, assumed by its appearance to be the evolved form of Minezumi.
The Pokémon Dream World feature, which allows a Pokémon from the player's game to be uploaded to the internet and have adventures on a new Pokémon website, was further detailed; Berries were shown growing in a garden, and further details of meeting Pokémon of previous generations in this dream world included a brief battle with a Pikachu similar to the Safari Zone or Pal Park, where none of the player's Pokémon were sent out.
The PokéShifter was also demonstrated, with wireless communications between two DSes, one holding a Generation IV game and one holding a Generation V game, transferred over Pokémon into a parklike area where the Pokémon's menusprites bounded between grass patches in a sort of target-practice minigame.
The Isshu overworld was further revealed, with differences between the overworld of Black being contrasted with that of White. New Trainer classes, including an American football player, a nurse or flight attendant, a backpacker, and a baker, were shown. A train similar to the Johto-Kanto Magnet Train was also demonstrated leaving a station, and battles will, like with the S.S. Anne, S.S. Aqua, and S.S. Tidal, be able to be conducted on the train.

Edit: New Trailer!!!

2) Special Latios & Latias Event for HGSS
http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/PAL,_North_American_Enigma_Stone_distribution_anno unced

TPCi has announced the next Wi-Fi event. The Enigma Stone will be distributed between July 31 and August 27 to PAL regions (Europe, Australia, etc.) and North America. This event will allow players of Pokémon HeartGold to catch Latios and players of Pokémon SoulSilver to catch Latias.
To download the Enigma Stone, players need to have obtained the National Pokédex and have two or fewer Wonder Cards in their possession.

-dusts of the thread- For those not in the know, localized names of the games and the new starters have been released as well as the official Ken Sugimori art designs for most of the new pocket monsters. Check 'em out at Bulbapedia.

Also, Black and White promotion at today's Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

Ohhh! That parade looks like a lot of fun! Wish they'd have them around here. :/

Big floating pokemon are always fun!
