So I was listening to the Planet (93.3 - Greenville, SC) and they mention a Creed Reunion. This is not something I want to see. As much as I loved Creed, their time has passed! It passed when they broke up! So I did some research.

From the Official Creed website:

ORIGINAL CREED LINE-UP OF SCOTT STAPP, MARK TREMONTI, SCOTT PHILLIPS AND BRIAN MARSHALL PLAN SUMMER TOUR AND NEW ALBUM

April 27, 2009 - Orlando, FL - Creed, one of the most successful rock bands of the past decade, has announced all four of the original band members are back together for a summer tour and new album. Since their formation, Creed has sold close to thirty-five million albums and millions of concert tickets.

The songwriting team of Stapp and Tremonti are considered one of the most prolific in rock history. Their collaborations delivered numerous chart-topping records that are a testament to the enormity and success of Creed. The band was the first act to have seven consecutive number one rock radio singles, four of which came off of the debut album. Their third album, Weathered, tied The Beatles Anthology, for the most consecutive weeks at Number One on Billboard’s Top 200 chart (eight weeks since the beginning of the SoundScan era (1991).

The band’s debut, My Own Prison, was released on August 26, 1997 and has sold over six million copies in the U.S. The follow-up, Human Clay, was distributed on September 28, 1999 and certified Diamond for sales in excess of 11 million copies. The band’s last studio album, Weathered, was released on November 20, 2001 and sold six million plus. In November 2004, Creed Greatest Hits was released, and has sold two million copies. The band was voted Favorite Group in 2003 on the People’s Choice Awards and won numerous American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and others including the Grammy Award for best Rock Song in 2001 for "With Arms Wide Open."

On reuniting, guitarist Mark Tremonti stated, "We're all very excited to reconnect with our fans and each other after six long years." Drummer Scott Phillips added, "Our career as Creed came to a very abrupt and unforeseen ending. After reflecting on some of the greatest personal and professional moments of our lives, we've come to realize that we are still very capable of continuing that career and our friendship on a grander scale than ever before." Bassist Brian Marshall continues, "This is a development we are all happy about. It has been a long time since the four of us have taken the stage together, and without hesitation or reservation this is something all of us are in to. The anticipation to get back out there is electrifying. Singer Scott Stapp concluded, "Its amazing how life can change and bring you full circle. Time gave us all a chance to reflect, grow and gain a deeper appreciation of our friendships, artistic chemistry, passion for music, and sincere love for our fans! It's rare in life to get a second chance to make a first impression and we embrace the opportunity. We all believe the BEST IS YET TO COME!"

The band has also teamed with I Love All Access to provide a variety of VIP ticket packages for the tour, including premium seats, meet and greets, photo ops, parties and more. For more information visitwww.ILoveAllAccess.com.

For all those that DON'T know - when Creed broke up, the three original members, minus Scott Stapp (the reason for the breakup) started a new band with Myles Kennedy known as Alter Bridge. They are a MUCH better band and the guys have grown so much in the 5 years they've been making music as Alter Bridge.

However, the Alter Bridge site says they are not breaking up and plan to have a new album out in 2010. It doesn't ACTUALLY confirm or deny the Creed Reunion Tour and Album.

Hello Alter Bridge Nation,

In light of the recent news that is circulating, we thought we would calm some of your fears. There are three main things we want you to know…

1) We have absolutely no plans to break up. Alter Bridge forever!

2) We have a live DVD coming out this summer and then in 2010 we will be back with a vengeance with a new album and a world tour.

3) All four of us are still brothers in music and there is no discord between us.

Please check out Myles’ Myspace page and we thank all of you for your support and understanding.

No mention of the Creed Reunion.

In fact, I can't find anything from AB that says anything about a new Album. However, on the official Alter Bridge forums it seems that Scott Phillips has said the album is real:

I hate to be the bearer of bad (or good depending on your viewpoint), but according to Scott Phillips, Creed will return this fall. I had the opportunity to spend the day with Scott at Hootie and the Blowfish's Monday After the Master Golf Tournament (http://www.hootiegolf.com). I began by asking if the studio was in the near future for the band. His response to my question was yes, but as Creed rather than Alter Bridge. Unaware of the rumors that seems to be floating around the Net, I said "You're bullshiting me!." He smiled but said no. He said that their management was working to get the arrangements completed. Since Wind-up still has Creed under contract, they still have to be in on the negotiations. According to Scott, Creed will do a short tour from August to October and release a new Creed album towards the end of the tour. I asked about Myles' feelings on this and Scott told me that he was ok with it. Apparently the plan was to have Myles do the "Zeppelin" thing (not really sure what he was referring to) and the other guys do the Creed thing. Scott and his wife both told me that Alter Bridge was still the future and it is what the entire band it dedicated to. Alter Bridge will return once the Creed tour completes. I can't really describe my feelings on this because I'm happy but really sad at the same time. I told Scott that Alter Bridge showcased the talents of three guys much more than Creed did.
On a final note, after speaking with Scott on and off all day, I got the feeling that Scott was not entirely happy about this, but I didn't really want to pry. He did say that there was still some bad blood which makes be wonder how the band (Creed) could create a new album together.
I hope Michael Tremonti will confirm this before it becomes "official news" as I believe the Alter Bridge community should hear it first.

So I don't know what to think. Since Mark is my favorite guitarist of all time, more of his playing is exciting to me. However, I don't want this to cause the guys to revert back to Creed permanently. They have all evolved so much since the Creed days and I don't want them to give up on the amazing things they've done with Alter Bridge. I'll be okay with the Album as long as Scott Stapp doesn't hold Mark and the guys back. I mean, I loved Creed. I still listen to their music and they are still in my top 10 favorite bands to this day. I just don't want to see them get back together permanently.

I will definitely be at the live show in Charlotte. When I saw them in 2002, it was one of the most amazing nights of my life. It would be great to be able to relive that. I guess only time will tell if this is a good thing or not.

I'd rather cut my eyes out with a razor soaked in acid than see Creed live again.

I did too. They were my favorite band until Evanescence (OLD Evanescence pre-The Open Door). I still listen to and play their music all the time. So part of me is excited about this, but I really honestly don't know what to think. As long as this does not keep Alter Bridge from continuing on after October, then okay - it's fine.

I knew about this coming for a long time because my Radio Station here, the morning DJs hate Creed and mock them... a lot.

I'm a Creed fan and saw them in concert, but it only was good because I was Tantric as well, I don't pay to see live bands anymore. The only one I would pay for, would be Foo Fighters.

I perfered Alterbridge after I found out what a huge asshole Scott Stapp (The lead singer, since the drummer was also named Scott) was. Since that band was Creed minus Scott.

But I see I'm not the only one who doesn't like what Evanescence has become! I'm glad for that. I was a fan since Origin and knew about them before the Fallen was released and I can't stand them now. They are soooo overrated.

You say that like they're already gone - which they say they're not. :) However, I do agree with you about Alter Bridge being MUCH better.

Now, for Evanescence, I found out about them right before the release of Fallen. I found all the other stuff online since Amy told the fans to download them all instead of paying exorbitant prices on eBay for them. I loved everything THROUGH Fallen. The Open Door had a few good songs on it, but it wasn't Evanescence. When Amy chased off Ben, that really ended Evanescence for me. It was never the same again. THEN, Amy becomes this egotistical maniac and says SHE IS Evanescence - WRONG. You know what, she should leave Evanescence! Then, bring back all the guys and find a new female lead singer and they start a new band while Amy starts a "solo" career with Scott Stapp. Wouldn't THAT be hilarious - two egotistical maniacs singing together

LOL! Agreed on so many things!

I actually edited it out where I called her an ego maniac! She chased off the original band mates who were with her from the beginning but when she chased off Ben and I saw what she was like in real life through a DVD I was like...and I'm supporting this girl? Why?

She used to me my favorite female vocalist. I still love what she did before The Open Door, but there are some that are better now. Idina Menzel, Hayley Williams, Jen Ledger (drummer for Skillet), Manda Ophius (Nemesea) and Gina Glocksen just to name a few :-p

EDIT: In Fact, Manda Ophius reminds me a lot of what Amy Lee was before her ego destroyed her. Check out Nemesea - if you liked Evanescence, you'll LOVE Nemesea.
