So, it seems that RPM is completely, truely, absaloutely the grand finale. Oh well. I'll miss PR, but not as much as I thought I would.

Thread reopened. It's relavent and even though its posted in the RPM thread, it deals directly with the fandom itself, and also leaves the RPM free of fandom related clutter that has a seperate place.

As much as I'm saddened that PR is coming to an end, at the same time I'm actually relieved. I think that PR (personally) should have ended a long time ago (perferably IMO after DT or SPD) as it's just gone downhill since then.
As opposed to beating a dead horse over and over again, we now get to let our fandom rest in piece and let it go on a high note (As long as RPM is good).

As hopeful as I am that RPM will be a good series I'm also not saddened in the least over this. Up until SPD if I had heard this before then it would have been a real bummer. After these past years though the series are starting to go down hill.
So needless to say the show ending is no big deal to me. Who knows maybe in a few years it'll make a come back and be a hit again. Until then though I still stick with Dragon Knight, Super Sentai, Kamen Rider and my other Toku shows.
Also, as a final check list for each series:
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers- Great Series
Power Rangers Zeo- Good Series
Power Rangers Turbo- Halfway Decent Series
Power Rangers in Space- Great Series
Power Rangers Lost Galaxy- Great Series
Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue- Good Series
Power Rangers Time Force- Great Series
Power Rangers Wild Force- Great Series
Power Rangers Ninja Storm- Great Series
Power Rangers Dino Thunder- Great Series
Power Rangers SPD- Halfway Decent Series
Power Rangers Mystic Force- Terrible Series
Power Rangers Operation Overdrive- Good Series
Power Rangers Jungle Fury- Decent Series
So let's see they've had;
7- Great series
3- Good series
2- Decent Series
1- Terrible Series
Somehow in print it doesn't seem as bad as I've made it sound, but my opinion says otherwise.

Since seeing Jungle Fury, I thought that PR was going to start to build up again. :/ It's sad to see that RPM will be the final stretch for our childhood series. I just want it to be successful and that PR will end on a high note.

Okay, first off... To Shad, my apologies for closing the thread and all of that
now secondly... While I do find it very sad that RPM is the final PR and thus PR as a whole ends, there are some things in that article that kind of irks me... For example the voice actor that is voicing General Crunch is said to be on the show for 3 years, or what Sally Campbell says that at this stage they will not be shooting a new season...
So yeah, it could mean anything up to now... If the show fully ends, then it ends. If a sudden new season gets made, then PR lives on for another year...
But still... 17 seasons is a lot of seasons for a sci-fi/action kids show (even if the last 2 or 3 seasons (not counting RPM here) of PR were well terrible), and don't get me wrong here since I will miss PR a lot if it truly is the end, but until we get some more news, then I'll remain to be a little bit skeptical on the subject at hand

Ya know, we should just be happy it had 17 seasons, what other shows from our childhoods got that much "love" and attention? Seriously?..Nothin.

I have to admit, as much as I agree that the Kalish era was blackness of the Power Rangers YingYang, I'll still be a bit sad to see PR go. I mean, it has been in my life for, well, almost all of it. And for how many of us is it the reason we found Sentai, Kamen Rider etc and ended up here? I'm iwlling to bet that the core reason, deep down behind the Sentai and the KR, Power Rangers is the reason we even 'met'. But anyway, should RPM be the final season, it had better remain as strong as it's started out. Dan Ewing has confirmed that Dillon is uneffected by the EP change, so there's hope, and hell, look who's ending it. Chip Lynn.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Chip sho saved PR when it was to be ended after In Space? Maybe (doubtfully) something similar will come out here too. And there is a rumor going around that someone who's not exactly popular with the fandom is *doing something about it*. Whatever that means.
But, if RPM is indeed the end, I wil lremember that PR had a long run. It outlasted shows such as Deep Space Nine, ER, Friends etc. Which is impressive.

It may have out lasted some shows and made it to 17 season (which for any show is a benchmark) sadly Power Rangers doesn't get any credit for what it was, is and has been to television.

Proof - http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/entertainment/television/090310_Entertainment_News
It gets like a five second mention near the end of the video.
Still, at the end of the final episode, it'd be nice if we got one of those "The End...?" like things. Or at least leave the possibility for it to continue in the future.

It's true. Since it's a kids show, people dismiss it a lot faster than they do other shows. Currently, ABC's longest running show (Of any type *30 minute, 60 minute, kids show, etc*) is Scrubs, and I believe it's been on for 9 years (Correct if wrong).
You look at other networks (NBC: ER (15 years), Law & Order (At LEAST 15 years). CBS: CSI (9 years *for the original*), Cold Case (5 or 6 years), Criminal Minds (5 years), NCIS (6 years), Numb3ers (at least 5 years), Without A Trace (5 years), etc etc.
It seems like ABC almost doesn't want to invest money in a long running series, thinking that they'll probably loose money in the end. Maybe that's why they wanna get rid of PR *shrugg*

As much as I have been dissapointed with PR since the end of DT, I'm still going to be sad to see it actually go. I really grew up with the series being 4 when it started and 20 when it ends. I dunno. It's almost like a part of me; the majority of my childhood and teen years was me running to the TV whenever it came on, searching for downloads, or making videos or fanart... Power Rangers - The only thing that has EVER been able to get me up before 1pm on a Saturday morning. JF was actually pretty good /decent for the Disney saga and I was hoping that the stories would build/learn from that and finally get better, but then again... Anyway, from the way RPM started, it's going to end on a really good note. For that I am grateful.
Like others, I'm also relieved that it's going though because the fact is, it has been going on for 16 years and it just can't measure up to the way it was before. I wasn't a huge fan of the story in SPD (characters were good though), I didn't like MF at all, OO... meh, JF - halfway decent, and now RPM is really good so far and if it stays that way, I'm just glad that it will be ending in a good place - in my mind at the very least.
^^ And I agree with Peggy about ABC family not wanting to invest money in a long running series. It all comes back to capital and ratings and the things they plan for in the future. PR apparently just didn't make the cut in comparison to all of those things.
huh. Maybe the end of PR will begin the release of season dvds in the US... *is doubtful*

Like I said doubtful and Well what can I say PR is a part of my childhood also I prefered some PR shows to they're sentai counterparts(Mighty Morphin to Zyuranger,Zeo to Ohranger,Turbo to Carranger-Time Force to Time Ranger*Quantum Ranger lived* ,Dino Thunder to Abraranger)

well we are different,PR ruined my child hood, because of MMPR they stopped dubbing and showing sentai and other toku here on the mid 90s
but come to think of it,if they stopped pirating sentai and start pirating kamen rider that will be a really bad news

Maybe you haven't seen Dragon Knight... Though it isn't a Disney show, it's still an adaptation of Ryuki.
And Though PR is Technically "Over" Seems like we'll all get a dose or two of MMPR coming pretty soon :D

no,ive seen it until episode 3 or 4,that's why i thought they will start pirating kamen rider when they stop pirating sentai, although it is a pirated version of ryuuki,it is still not as cool as ryuki,if you rate ryuki, it's 100% and dragon knight is about 1% of ryuki

Stay on topic, please.
So they just aired the two new episodes. No more until December, when the last four air, and...it's a bittersweet feeling that's brewing in my heart...apologies for the slightly poetic verse there. I'm happy RPM is getting wonderful reviews, the fans are enjoying it, and that the storyline is relatively decent, but just the same, it trul is coming to an end. And that is a great sadness.

Well that's kinda of the point it's Dragon Knight not Ryuki and I prefer Dragon Knight to Ryuki personally:)
Hmm Wonder why it'll be off for 2 months

Slight correction ... {scrubs} started on NBC and was there for 7 seasons. ABC saved it (if you think that was being saved) and it got it's 8th and final season.
I'd also like to add that Stargate has been on Television for 12 years. 10 years of Stargate: SG-1 ... 5 seasons of Stargate: Atlantis (three after SG-1 stopped) and now they are doing Stargate: Universe.

I know this if OT ... but at least someone finally agrees with me that KRDK is a complete bag o' crap!
Back on Topic.
I don't know how they could even start to adapt Shinkenger the way it's been made. With all the Kanji on the suits, attacks and Origami ... it just seems like it would be next to impossible to pull it off. So, I guess it's good to go out with a bang with RPM as amazing as it has been.

I'd also like to point out that I was using it as a reference before it was moved. And I used the four main networks that span both Canada and the USA (NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox).

Allow me to correct that correction. Scrubs had it's 8th season on ABC following 7 years on NBC, yes. However, final season....no. Scrubs has been renewed for a 9th season with Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke signed on for 9 episodes. The idea is to transition the show to some new stars for a mix of old and new one's. Turk, Cox, and The Janitor have all signed on as regulars, but are also each slated to appear in new series as well, and those series will take presedence. Source Below.

Sorry to change the topic there, just wanted to point that out.

As for Power Rangers, I have discussed this with a couple people and one of them brought foward an interesting theory.
Now, work with me here and remember that this is all speculation. When last we heard from Bruce Kalish in relation to Power Rangers, he stated publicly that he was headed to Canada to find a new shooting location for the show. We haven't heard anything PR related from him since, though we know he's working on Aaron Stone (which conviently enough films in Toronto).
So, what if Disney is showing MMPR for a year to give them time to move to a new studio and shooting location in Canada, as well as make a new season. It's entirley possible that the NZ studio shut down and when the NZ newspapers heard this, they assumed the show was completley cancelled and Disney didn't both to correct them so that they could suprise everyone with a new season in 2011 and also so they could work on the new season in peace.
It's a bit out there, but not impossible.
