Granted I haven't finished watching Go-Onger (lost interest) it was still an enjoyable Sentai series to watch, kind of like Den-O was...

Either way, the teasers and the trailer itself truly makes the wait seems like forever, but either way hopefully it will be worth the wait for Shinkenger does looks to be pretty good

Wow, That was. . .intense.

Pretty good episode, though I'm going to start off by saying I'm going to have to rewatch it and see Episode 2 before I get any real solid opinions on anything.

So There isn't much I'm going to say here expect a couple things I like:

ShinkenRed seems to be the most serious red in a DECADE! Yes, even outdoing Akashi.

The Big Sword was rather awesome.

I find it hilarous that Red seems Anti-social, Blue is the puppy dog and Green is the one who doesn't want to do this shit.

The battle's where Awesome, and I want Shinkenger's swords and Discs damn it!

More when I rewatch it.

That was an impressive first episode

- No opening? I'm not suprised. It's really not uncommon for first episodes to lack openings.

- So far I'm liking Takeru. I do get that Akashi feel him, and him being serious is a nice change of pace from the hyperactive red senshi we've had for the past two years.

- This series is brimming with Japanese culture and I could see Disney easily butchering it up.

- Chiaki was playing Tekken 6! I though that was pretty cool.

- The henshin sequence was nothing less than spectactular, and IMO one of the best in years.

- I also favor the ending. It was unique and best of all it lacked dancing.

I do like what I'm seeing so far and I can only hope it continues to get better. Of course even terrible is a step up from Go-onger in this Sentai fans humble opinion.

I can easily see Shinkenger being my series of choice for '09.

The Henshin was OMG it was rather elegant i've never seen a henshin I though was beautiful till now.

The use of the Origami out side of being giant is a great idea!

While Red reeks of douche I can see him learning a lesson along the way. (at least I hope)

Sure no pre done theme but thats okay i love the action opening and the theme it self! Bless you Shinkenger bless you!

I also love and kinda hate how they use their unique weapons. It takes so long to set up pull sword open buckle slap on disc. I guess thats nit picking.

Okay so I still don't understand what's happening. I don't know Japanese, but despite that, I enjoyed it. Now to wait for the subs.

Alright, I have enjoyed watching the Opening episodes of Boukenger, Gekiranger AND Go-Onger, but Shinkenger LITERALLY blows everything out of the waters!

It has a great balance between seriousness and comedy, I just LOVE the way they change into their suits, I also love the way they fight and I also love it that Red isn't a screamer (Jan I could tolerate... Sousuke I sometimes just wanted him to shut up with his Super Saiya-jin hairstyle), and I also love that Blue and Yellow are such loyal followers.

Green looks to be the relaxed, lay back kind of guy and Pink... Well she has this interesting vibe that I like. The mecha battle was nicely done, good use of the whole origami aspect that they have going on and I definately LOVE the villains... As for the way they started the episode... LOVE IT!!! So yeah I can not wait for the subs!

From watching the henshin sequence, I think I understand why they are using 天/heaven instead of 風/wind and 空/sky for Shinkenpink's element now. It has to do with the kanji's stroke order so that she can be consistent with her temamates. Fire has four strokes, water has three-four, wood has four, earth has three, and heaven has four. Wind has nine strokes and sky has seven.

For some reason, the sake drinking villain reminds me an awful lot of Geki's Maku, not so much on the sake drinking, but mostly on their voices being similar. Do they have the same VA? Having seen two episodes, I'm starting to form opinion, actually tidbits, on the Shinkenger.

ShinkenRed - Okay, so he's kind of a jerk to the others, but its all in good reason that he doesn't want to burden the others with this task the way his was. I feel kind of sorry for his circumstance and hope he grows to be more accepting and open to his comrades.

ShinkenBlue - He's kind of a drama king... and I'm not saying that because he was a Kabuki actor, but because he over-dramatizes even minimum situations (see Act 2)

ShinkenPink - She is a bit cute... but her voice kinds of bothers me and she hasn't really been touched on. Here's hoping we learn more about her in the next 2-3 episodes.

ShinkenGreen - He's your modern punk. That's all I can say. He's a bit reluctant to fulfill his duties so he puts on your typical front to hide his lack-of-experience.

ShinkenYellow - Slightly on the same cuteness as Pink, but other than her clumsy mishap, I don't really have much on her either.

Its a bit funny to me that Red is cool-headed while Blue and Green seem to take up the firecracker roles akin to Jan and Sousuke.

Well it IS understandable that Shinkenger is about Red since in this series... Takeru IS the Lord of the Shima clan (or something like that) which is a proud line of Samurai Lords and he is the 18th Generation...

As Michel stated, Takeru takes things to his stride while the others are a bit "meh" towards him, the only character that understands him fully is...

Out of the four main shows this is the one with the least going for it. Although I think now that they are finally starting to develop the characters a little more it will get better. I just hope they do something with the villains cause right now they haven’t done enough with them for me to form an opinion.

Also, while it may have the least going for it right now I get the feeling that once things do get moving along and we dwell more into all the characters and the story we’ll get blown out of the water.

I've been blown out of the water already personally, Sure the main villains havn't done much personally, but man, we have got some of the most "hateable" (in a good way) monsters and Grunts yet. (Seriously Manpuliating a kid to nearly commit Suicide/Break his leg, An monster with an explosive vocabluarty that actually kills, Seeing grunts actually bring their blades to human beings.) Seriously this is some of the most serious epic stuff I have seen in Sentai since. . . Jetman. (Only cause I havn't seen anything past that till Abaranger).

Plus I like how Red is more downplayed and mellow than recent reds, including Akashi. Blue being the humorouse over reacting one is a nice touch, I'm tired of Blue being the Smart/Cool one. Chikai's Personality is also nice, despite the issue's in can create. Kotaha is definatly innocent, but surprising strong willed for someone that Innocent.

Mako. . . Well someone has to fall into the Old Maid trap. . .I hope she gets expanded on soon, She could use a bit more character behind her.

555 fans get Ready, The actor who played Kaido/Snake Orphenoch is the 4th Main Gedoushuu. Ballin'!

I'm seriously starting to wonder if these discussion threads are neccessary. They seem to serve about as much purpose as Shizuka did on Kiva. Aside from that, I really am enjoying this series for the most part. More so because it's not Go-onger, which is a little childish, but it was just an unbearable series for me. Like I said in the past, this series is just oozing with Japanese culture and colorful characters.

A few of these characters share similar personalities to the characters from Bouken. Chiaki greatly reminds me of Masumi, becuase of his stubborness, his attitude, and his goal to surpass Takeru. Takeru shares a somewhat similar personality to Akashi, but as Tiz said is a little more mellow and less uptight. Kotaha, like Natsuki, is an innocent, but suprisingly skilled. She's not just there to be cute and sweet like Natsuki. It's already be acknowledged that she's more skilled than Chiaki, and quiet possibly Ryunosuke and Mako.

Ryunosuke at times is a little too overdramatic for my liking. Like Sosuke, I have a hard time taking him seriously, even when he attempts to be. As for Mako, I agree that she lacks character development, at the moment, so I've really got nothing on her.

So far I'm liking what I'm seeing and can only hope it gets better. After seeing Go-onger last year, I thought all hope was lost for me and Super Sentai. But you can go home again.

Spooky...anyway...

The brief introduction of the fourth Gedoushu was shown in the last act near the end. If my instincts are correct, we could see a dramatic EP change in the next 5 acts, maybe more (through I don't think that will happen). I think this Gedoushu will upset their balance and end up causing the Shinkengers and Gehoushu leaders some grief.

well the third zord that they will be getting is a white tiger. He too can combine with Shinken-oh and he can also combine with the other two zords to make a carrier type zord.

But there is a Shinken Gold....

As much as i loved the Go-On Wings, i really don't think we need Shinken Wings.

Chiaki came to mind for me and then Crazy Genta. It was just Chiaki and his Dad and there doesn't seem to be a mom around. I could be remembering wrong, though. Did Chiaki mention his mom? I just re-watched episode 8 and Dayou did recognize the Shiba clan family crest, but since she is a enemy to them, she would know it. Takeru is the most likely contender if it was a Shinkenger member.

However, in episode 8, Shitara and Doukoku were discussing Dayou's past and then Shitara used it as an opening to say, "Speaking of which, the stray has returned." He was speaking in reference to Juzo. Which kind of implied that he was a part of Dayou's past. It could be him. Dayou's past as a wife and mother seemed to happen many years ago so it could be before the Shinkenger's time, but one could still be a descendant of Dayou.

that, and Jayse... that Samurai Da Oh or whatever the name is only consists out of 11 Mecha compared to G12 from Go-Onger, that and Shinkenger only has a total of 13 Mecha (movie included) while Go-Onger has a total of 15 (movie included... which of course showed up in the series as well)

Either way... Mecha looks a bit eh... Ultimate combination looks eh, but the Rangers power up mode looks nice and classy... Very royalty

I kind of like the lantern idea. It is Genta's power up right? Genta is a wacky guy and it fits him getting a wacky power up. If it becomes a helmet for their megazord(hard to break the habit of saying megazord), that will be hilarious. The only other Shinkenger who won't be embarrassed is Kotoha.

now also I really like the Inromaru and the super disc. I like the way the Super Shinkergers looks. Also I've seen pics of Super Shinken Red using it but he has a crimson rob instead of a white one? Okay is anyone even watching Shinkenger any more?

I know I just recently went from 0-60 with it. Yeah I didn't watch for a while but I did catch up!

As Much as I though i'd hate Chiaki I don't I LOVE HIM!!!

Anywho last episode I did watch was episode 33 when they get Ushi origami under control.

I am aware of the Cluster fuck that is coming in a few episodes but really while I like the origami we don't need 10,000 of them!

None the less I do like Shinkenger.

I love Love LOVE Shinkenger. Now some of the episodes in the 30s section is a bit tedious (two episodes for a skating bull is too much) but, over all, two thumbs up!

Call me when Kohota is more than the sweet girl/Extreme Drama device. It's a shame, cause Mako has been getting more than "fixes troubled people" characterization now, but Kohota. . . She's still the same girl from Episode 2, outside of a little crush. And when the rest of the cast is reasonably flawed , including Genta for gods sake, it kinda stands out.

Kotoha was my favorite character until Genta came along. There is just something about the crazies that I cannot help but love. Now she is my second favorite character.

It seemed to me that Kotoha was a better fighter . . . in the beginning. Now she is getting saved by Mako and Takeru left and right. She should have a rilvary with Dayuu too. I mean, she was the one hurt by her.

Here's hoping she gets some more character development. Maybe they will bring her sister into the picture or something and she has a growing experience from that.

I do love the fact that she comes up with a lot of their more clever plans. :nod:

Character development in Sentai hasn't always been it's shining beacon some (if not more) characters are left out in the cold when it comes down to character building. With that Kotoha seems to be that character this year.

I have seen episodes 34-37 and I cannot say enough how much I love this season.

34 reintroduced Mako in a very unique way. Her background is so sad and the scene with her mother at the end, had tears in my eyes. The big sis of the team really is a great character.

35 was Ryuu's time to shine. He is he one in the group most homesick for his old life. When it comes to making new origami formations . . . he is the excited king. Here's hope he doesn't get hurt so badly that he doesn't get a chance to return to Kabuki Theater. The last group of Shinkenger got there asses handed to them, on a silver platter, in the final battle so who knows how it will turn out for him.

36 my two favorite characters share an episode together and Kotoha finally becomes Super Shinken Yellow! Her finisher is awesome and I can't wait to see her next finisher since everyone gets two . . . I hope. >.< I am reading spoilers that episode 41 will be about her (sister issues) so hopefully she suits up again.

37 was fun. Chiaki and Ryuu must have another shared episode. They have come a long way. In the beginning, they could not get along at all. Here's hoping Chiaki also gets his second finisher.

I am surprised that Doukoku is still around. When the show first started I swore he'd be gone about half way through and the real enemy would appear.

I watched Act 38 yesterday and I am glad that they finally gave Jii a focus episode. Even learning a little about his past. He hasn't always just been a retainer who looked after the mansion and Takeru.

I liked how as soon as the others mention that Takeru and Jii's relationship was more like father/son he quickly shot it down. I'm just glad they finally addressed that issue as it has been rather obvious throughout the series. Even mentioning how he cares for all of them was a nice touch and knowing them enough to know when they are lying to him.

The new weapon is ok, but I could do without it.

I'd give the episode 10/10.

I just watched the raw of episode 40(warning: I watched the raw, which means I don't know what they were saying). Spoilers be ahead:




It is epic from beginning to the end. Doukoku finally enters the world of the living and kicks all types of butt. Seems he wants his Dayuu back. He desires this goal more than finishing off the Shinkenger because he had them but he opted to go to her and fix her shamisen, using a scale from his being. The reason this move stopped the death of the Shinkengers is because Doukoku cannot stay away from the Sanzu River for very long. He started drying up rapidly the moment that he stepped into the living world and he used the last of his time to help Dayuu.

Now he is resting at the bottom of the Sanzu River trying to rejuvenate himself and I believe that Akumaro thinks that he is now captain of the ship. In the living world Doukoku would have killed him too, if he had not ran away. He'll get his when Doukoku resurfaces.

FYI, Shinken Red got his butt kicked!! :lmao: He is usually the one to kick butt once he steals Kotoha's sword but it did not work this time. Doukoku owned him from start to finish. He is hurt really bad. Note: I do love Takeru but it is just awesome when a badass ranger or their sentai counterpart gets their ass kicked.

The credits were epic because it showed scenes of their new teamup. The summary of the next episode was epic is because it is about Kotoha and Super Shinken Yellow returns. Looks like the other Shinkengers are captured and Takeru is probably still nursing the ass kicking that he got. It's time for her to shine alone. :nod:

Double Post: Episode 41

Mako, why oh why didn't you tell Kotoha the truth? She asked Mako twice to tell her what happened to Takeru but she opted to lie and say nothing was wrong instead. I can understand that Mako wanted to protect her feelings but her denials was obvious lies to Kotoha. This situation brings about memories of episode 13 when Kotoha asked Mako not to burden herself with everything and to rely on her. Mako obviously decided not to take this advice which is unfortunate because her decision totally messed up Kotoha's mindset.

Kotoha then receives a letter from her sister that pushes her further into a depression when Genta makes his innocent comment about the awesome possibility of ShinkenYellow being a beautiful woman instead of Kotoha. XD XD

Kotoha no longer wants to be the little sister of the group that everyone protects and spoils. She wants to be a member of the group that everyone depends upon. Her resolve makes her reckless and as a result, the other members of the team get crapped on by the enemy and gets put under a spell.

Ji-san sees that there is something wrong with Kotoha and decides to talk with her.

Takeru has been unconscious for the entire episode but he hears Kotoha playing her flute and awakens. Takeru has a flute fetish because I theorize that he has been watching or listening from the shadows before this moment. That is the only way to explain how he was able to ask for that design on her birthday cake. Note: Kotoha always plays her flute turned away from the mansion and not toward it and the cake depicted her playing her flute so Takeru just may be a stalker. XD XD

So Takeru is standing inside listening to Kotoha play her flute and then happens to hear her conversation with Ji-san which makes his ass form go back into its dormant evil state where it belongs. XD XD

The next day when the monster attacks again, Takeru goes alone to fight it and when Kotoha rushes to follow him Ji stops her. He ask her to look at her sister's letter from his point-of-view. She does not see Kotoha is just her substitute, she sees Kotoha as Shinken Yellow and it was time for Kotoha to see herself as Shinken Yellow and not as the substitute. Kotoha was manifesting her feelings on her sister.

This gives her resolve and she rushes into battle saving Takeru from being put under the spell, as well. I love that moment because it is a start contrast to episode 2 where she rushes in front of Takeru and shields him from, what could have been, a deadly blow by becoming a human shield. This time . . . she did not see herself as an expendable substitute but she saw herself as the real Shinken Yellow and stops the attack.

I loved how in 40 and 41 that it is implied that Doukoku and Takeru—the leaders—both seem to have a dependency on music. Doukoku wants Dayuu and her music back so much that he risks his own wellbeing to help her and restore to her her instrument, and Takeru awakens because of Kotoha's song and decided to stop being anti-social because it was affecting Kotoha and the others in a negative way.

I guess the theme of this episode was that decisions that a teammate makes effects the other members of the team. They should have let Kotoha have a serious conversation with Mako and then with Takeru because their weird behavior is what started all this. The decision not to let them have a discussion made things seem disjointed but I still loved the episode.

I just wonder how the storyline will go. Takeru is obviously a Shiba, he just isn't the true head of the household. If they are siblings does that mean that the older sibling is always the decoy or does it vary?

Okay, it was a chore to blaze the episodes but it was kind of worth it. Unfortunately for Shinkenger, BanDai is seriously cramping on the show's writing by forcing in their products. While Ushi Origami is nice and fits in nicely, the final formation is simply the worst robo I've seen in Sentai's history, its like its own natural disaster! Other than BanDai's meddling, the show has been okayish at best. Honestly until Dayuu and Juuzo were brought back, the show felt laggy. When those two came back it started going back onto its feet, but there has been a lot of wasted potential in terms of storyline and fleshing out the characters more.

-Takeru is obviously going through his, especially the next episode so I'll wait to see how that turns out.
-Ryuunosuke, I liked seeing him miss kabuki but would like to see maybe a little more although he's my least fave of the Shinkenger.
-Mako, nice seeing her family and her moment with her mom. Her role as big sister is more prominant, but I too wished she was more honest/open with Kotoha.
-Chiaki, loved the interaction he had with Ryuunosuke and want to see more of this guy. He reminds me of Shikamaru from Naruto in a way and has been my fave of the bunch from the start. I would like to see more of him trying to surpass the others like he vowed in the early episodes. Chiaki actually looked to be on par with Takeru, too bad Takeru was more preoccupied with what Juuzou said than having a fair fight with Chiaki.
-Kotoha, loved her recently episodes but I simply want more. Actually have her sister show up, but the last episode was nicely done.
-Genta, hilarious and as much as a Samurai as everyone else. Would like to see his and Takeru's childhood friendship more, but maybe not as much. The show could do without his lantern partner though.

The show has a good theme and a lot untapped potential. But as long as BanDai has its say with Toei, that potential isn't going to be tapped in favor of a market strategy. =/ Bringing in Karou-chan though is a nice storytwist and the episodes can be good when the writers try.

Has anyone watched episode 43 yet? It suggest that Juuzou was completely fallen but I believe that it had to have happened after or a little bit before his fight with Takeru.

Reason being . . . his human side saved him from Doukoku in an earlier episode, which suggest at that point he was still human.

Kaoru is okay as far as being a fighter goes... I can handle her if they manage to develop her as a character in time. But her Jii has got to go! I swear to Daijinryu that Hikoma doesn't die in the next episode for Tanba is an ingrateful bastard! The way he demeans Takeru and Genta and their accomplishments as if they have done nothing at all! If it weren't for Takeru and Genta... Tanba wouldn't be holding the inromaru or the gattai disks he seemed joyously surprised to see. It looked like Kaoru wanted to say something to the retainers but her idiotic Jii kept getting in the way. I'm willing to bet that it is because of her Jii Kaoru got spoiled to having the Kuroko get her disk and drawn her sword for her. I hope he get more than a fan thrown at his head next time...

The life of vassals are not an easy one because we saw Takeru's life and he was not too happy until he became friends with the others. We are seeing just how a real ruler and their second would treat her vassals and it is not as equals. They are just weapons and shields but that can change if she allows herself to have friends. Kotoha and she must bond.

I watched the raw to 45 and well... Wow yeah she can fight but she seems to have the personality of a doormat. She had to have a Kuroko pull her sword out and place in her hands!! WHAT...... *groans* I want Take-chan back!I don't blame her for that. It's her damn jackass Jii(I really should start calling him by his name but he is not worthy). He is the one that raised her and probably order her servants to do that. We are lucky that she does not have his personality completely.

The thing is . . . she is a real princess and Takeru was not, so his Kuroko probably would have done the same for him, if he allowed them to do so but since he probably saw himself as less than the Kuroko, he would not let them lower themselves to draw his sword for him.

Now if Karou has her Kuroko jump in front of her to avoid being hit by an attack, then I shall change my opinion of her.

I'm fine with Kaoru as a Red and a character. She hasn't done any sacregilous, and the Kuroko prepping her Shinkenmaru kinda speaks for her true lord character.

It's her Jii that's utterly utterly painful. I like the drama the situation has brought up, with the NONE of the retainers really liking the situation at all. The bit with Chiaki before the first eye-catch was a real powerful moment for me, really spoke for how far his character has gone since episode 1 where he just didn't want to be bothered with any of this. Especially when it concerned Takeru.

Karou kicks ass!

Karou: Felt that it was cowardly not doing anything at all, while someone else fought in her place so she quickly learned the sealing character so she could fight. She reminds me of the Takeru from the first episodes. She can also keep her Jii in check even if he got a chance to say too much. Totally badass and I want her to be involved in the finale battle.

Takeru (Ziggy shadow puppet): He's hurt physically and mentally. He is ruthless with his words to his friends. I deceived you from the start and I planned to deceive you to the very end. Mako was never going to get the truth out of him and the others weren't even trying to get the truth. Takeru feels that someone who would put four beings so important into danger like that is not worth fighting with. He urges them to fight with the princess. At the end, he was easy pickings for crazy Juuzou to manipulate.

Ryuunosuke: The one revealed—in the beginning—to be the most blindly loyal to the lord, is finding it hard to blindly follow the true lord. His lord has been taken from him and the question asked of him by that guy in Episode 7 has hit him in the face. What will he do next?

Mako: Knew that something wasn't right about Takeru, from the very beginning, and has been trying to get to the truth. When faced with Karou she figured out that Takeru was a shadow. She is loyal to Takeru, like the others, but seems to be the one the most open to the change of the guard.

Chiaki: The lazy young bear is pissed. He does not like how his friends, Takeru and Genta has been treated and is lashing out. He is not interested in fighting with the lord. He is interested in fighting with Takeru but in the end does his duty as as samurai along with the others.

Kotoha: Cannot and will not think of Takeru is anything but her Tono and seeing him bowing down to Karou almost had her rushing to his side but he got up before she could. Don't think of me so absolutely(episode 20). Was he making a small revelation to her there? I love their dynamic.

Genta: Does not like how Takeru was being disrespected so he left. Why oh why did both he and Dai-chan leave Takeru behind after finding him? Didn't they remember that Juuzou(Elmer Fudd) has been Take-chan hunting for episodes now? Genta knows that Takeru is mentally lost right now so he is desperate to find him.

Jii: Ask the princess why she would show up in such a way. I think that he realizes that she is being reckless. Now the enemy knows of her and her decision may come to bite them in the butt. Who would have thought, she would be the one to mess up the plan.

Honestly, I don't think it makes too much difference who defeats the Gedoushu. Once the war is over, the retainers and 'lords' won't really have much left to do anyway. There's not really much left for them to be the 'lord' of anyway. So I'd assume they'd just go back to their ordinary lives. I do hope however that we see Kaoru and Takeru join forces in the finale, because seeing two ShinkenReds would just be awesome (and Kaoru does seem like a decent person). And it seems to be something they're building toward.

However, I'm thinking that Kaoru's Jii is either going to be killed by Juuzou (don't put it past Juuzou to remove any obstacles standing between him and his duel with Takeru), or something is going to happen that makes him shut up and see the reality of what's going on. And I've got a hunch that it's not too far off here. Alot of shows have been throwing characters like him into the mix lately, and they usually don't last long, or they start respecting the characters later on (the NYPD Blue Rule). Problem is, we don't have time for an entire story arc, so whatever is going to happen needs to happen quickly.

After seeing 47, I agree to the fullest that Kaoru kicks ass! I just wish Shinkenger got less filler and we met her at least in the 30's. Her Jii, despite being a complete ass, makes for great abuse too as seen in 47. Two more to go!

Juuzou, I did not expect to actually see that happen while he was in human form. That is a first for my Power Ranger virgin eyes because the only other Sentai I have seen is Magiranger and nothing happened like that. It was a fitting end though.

Takeru was not only upset about lying to the others but over the fact that they could have died protecting him. Poor guy needed a hug.

Chiaki did not agree with me and punched him but that is Chiaki's way and it worked. The punch was for the secrets and lies and now Takeru better consider himself forgiven or he will probably get another one. I have been very impressed with Chiaki during this entire situation.

Mako is the big sis (or should I say Dr Phil?) of this group and she takes that role seriously. Her words to Takeru was short but sweet. You have so much and they made him think.

Ryuu gets a pep talk from the Kuroko that he befriended in an earlier episode. He made him get off his butt and go find his Tono. I love how he said that Takeru is his Tono and that if his Tono orders him to protect Karou . . . he would do so. He also is the one that saves Takeru from the fire. Yay!

I did not think that Kotoha would be the first to speak up to Takeru but she surprised everyone. Her little "it wasn't a lie" speech was so powerfully cute. I love how she cringed when she accidentally called him Tono-sama but she kept on speaking. Far cry from the girl who could only stutter "Um, don't die, I don't want that" when they went through their first round of Takedrama.

Tayuu parted with her instrument to resurrect Doukuku and that was a powerful moment. The monkey crap has officially hit the fan. He is ready for the final battle.

This is the first sentai that I watched while the show was airing and I was not disappointed. I loved Shinkengers ending and it was so sad.

First, a minor observation about the article. OVA stands for Original Video Animation (sometimes called OAV for Original Animated Video). This isn't an animated series, so calling it an OAV would be kind of misleading. It would be better to call it Direct to DVD or Direct to Video. Just a little thing.

That's probably why they're doing a (movie/special/miniseries?). They probably felt that the ending was anticlimactic. They did that with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon too, and it worked fairly well as closure to the series (though the circumstances were a bit different).

What boggled my mind about the finale is the good-bye. Now I understand, the Shinkengers going home but they still live in the same area; except for Mako, who is going to Hawaii(I think).

They can't be friends now?

A great ending would have been, the Shinkengers seeing Mako off and then we see them hanging out at the arcade together, and watching one of Ryuu's plays are whatever.

I am also saddened over the fact that Karou didn't get a chance to bond with the girls. I thought it would be a funny storyline for her to look up to Kotoha as a big sister, who looks up to Mako. They brought her in too late but I still love her. Yet, they wasted two episodes for the skating bull. >.<

I just watched the ending subbed and I am really disappointed now. Genta is going to France to terrorize the streets there and there was nothing that indicated that he would be coming back. :(

Mako is indeed going to Hawaii but she is coming back and promised to help fight when needed.

Chiaki is going to a university and promised the next time he meets Takeru, he would defeat him.

Ryuu, of course, is going back to theater but he provides a link for the others in saying that he would send them tickets. Of course the link is lost on Chiaki cause he wouldn't be caught dead at one of those performances.

We get no update on what Kotoha will be doing. She only asked Ryuu for tickets to his performances so her sister and she could come to some. She beat out Genta as my favorite and I get no info on her. Hell, she didn't even get a parents episode. :confused:

It is back to business as usual for Takeru.

And was anyone else annoyed they spent half of the finale out of suit. When they facing up what should of been powered up Gedoushu and THE BIG BAD OF THE WHOLE SERIES. It got to the point where I honestly asked "and they had the suits for the whole series WHY?!"

I wasn't annoyed but I wasn't overjoyed either after seeing the finished project. It was obvious that the actors aren't as skilled as the suit actors. They should have put them through a boot camp before filming those scenes. Like that Boot camp that the Kill Bill stars had to go through.

Doukuku of 40 was more powerful than the Doukuku of the final battle, which was disappointing. It's like overcoming the sealing character took away some of the badass strength. Maybe Karou got a chance to seal away some of his power.

Edit: Kotoha's ending also didn't satisfy me because she wanted to be a Samurai and thought that was all she could be but she walks away from it in the end. What is should going to do? Just play her flute for now on? "I'm only good at the sword and the flute. I want to do my best with Tono-sama." Takeru will still be fighting the Gedoushu . . . yet she left him alone to fight in the end. That wasn't the Kotoha I know.

I have to disagree about it feeling like it was bad-ass personally. Or the stunt coordination. I'm bothered by it from the sheer principle of the matter.

They spend 40+ episodes hyping Doukuku up, so fucking powerful that most previous generations of Shinkenger could do was SEAL HIM UP. So what do we get in a freaking finale? The team facing him in a battle so anti-climatic, they spend a grand majority of that battle out of suit. And Kill him off.

Am I the only one who bother to WTF about it? Absorbing Dayuu should of only made him stronger. This was just some plain old bad writing, spending way to much time getting a self-imposed boner over the Kagemusha scenario, that it didn't bother to do the much needed work on creating a real proper scenario for the villains. Who were handled sloppy all season.

In the end, Shinkenger was a joke.

Sorry for all the hate, but that finale really highlighted a lot of problems that I had with Shinkenger personally.

Some of the hits that got on Doukuku in the final, did not faze him at all in 40. I can believe that Tayuu made him immune to the seal but weaker to attack. They should have explained that though and not have me guessing. Like instead of going Super Saiyan, Doukuku went regular saiyan on sleeping pills. >.<

There have been better battle sequences throughout the series. :confused:

It doesn't make things any better. In fact it only makes things worse, Cause Decade wasn't much better. These shows should focus on telling it's story within it's normal settings. The Extra Den-O movies work, because we weren't given a half assed ending to the story with a obvious tell to watch more shit. We just got more amusing side stories for the imagin to partake in.

In the end, 2009 wasn't that great of a year for Tokusatsu, The animated series for girls following shinkenger and Decade turned out to be a much much better series in all regards, even though that had a bit of a lame duck ending as well.

But I know these shows can be better, Double is only proving it at this point but there is still time for that to fail horribly.

It may not be a good ending for a sentai series in your eyes, but not everyone sees in just that sense. For a sentai series, yeah, could have been a better ending. For toku? A hell of a lot better than Decade's, with "Oh, i've befriended you, now i'm gonna shoot you point blank in the head in the last 5 seconds of the episode."

At least there was a nanogram of closure here, whereas with KR Decade, it was like they left the door open at fort Knox with no guards. Completely open, and no closure.

I was thinking maybe the unhenshined/unmorphed rolecall and fight would have made more sense if their sodophones had been taken away from them, during their first encounter with Doukuku when Takeru stabs him, and they were fighting to get them back. :ninja:

Sorry, but I've been watching Sentai since Abaranger, and this is the first one that really just missed the mark for me. Doukuku was barely a threat at all, even letting them debut a totally worthless new power during the fight. There didn't seem to be any real "grand mastery" of Mojikara to allow Takeru and the others to do what previous generations of Shinkenger couldn't do. That's something that I usually find to be a constant in Sentai finales that I really felt that Shinkenger missed, a general feeling that the team had in their darkest hour, attend a mastery of the series long MacGuffin/Concept that allowed them to defeat the big bad.

I think had Shinkenger hadn't tried to squeeze out an extra episode, I get what they were trying for. But in with that final act, I can't help but feel they missed the mark. Plus I'm still boggled over the actual epilogue. I know we will see them again, but it was just odd to see a Sentai team just break apart like that. That aspect probably could of had more time settled to it.

I'm not being grumpy for grumpy sake, I have issues with how the finale went down and how it reflected on the series personally. These ARE kids shows, I know and I love them for that fact. But it doesn't mean I can't form an opinon other than "it had explosions, I was entertained." Otherwise, why have a message board?

Okay, I just watched the Shinkenger movie and I do believe it is shorter than an actual episode or at least the same length. :crazy: It was good but I would not have paid to see it because it is so short. I would've been pissed. I can't wait to see the other two Shinkenger movies. :nod:

I loved the credits with the cast singing the song and they actually added Genta to the ending credits.

Edit: Genta's relationship with Juuzou was a lot more interesting. Genta was no pushover and he was like, "I will fight you in Taki-chan's place." Movie Genta was a better version.

Alright. I do have to admit that I raised the BS flag when they decided to go their separate ways like that. Any team that's been through what they've been through would not have just broken up so abruptly afterward.

That said, I don't think it was as bad as people make it out to be. I still enjoyed how Kaoru finally realized that Takeru belonged with the team, and I do have to say that the banter between her and her Jii was pretty funny. I think people are writing this off because of the very end scenes, and that just isn't fair, because the end scenes really weren't as important as everything else they'd been through.

The ending scene is not the only reason why I didn't like it but it was the icing on a cake that was not to my taste. I call BS on how Doukoku was defeated. As a fan of his I noticed that he conveniently did not use one of the powers he had in 41 in the final battle because with it neither Takeru nor Ryuu should have been able to get close to him. What happened to it? Why were the Shinkengers able to stand so many times against an enemy that made them his bitch with a few swipes of his sword mere episodes ago? Did they get a power up that I missed? Did that power up forget to help Karou?

Karou should have been in the final battle. There should have been seven Shinkengers out there. Her presence would have made the easy defeat of Doukoku explained because she is the Shiba. She sustained the same amount of damage that the other five got but somehow, she is conveniently too hurt to fight in the final battle but they are so healthy they can pose and fight unhenshined. The real Shiba had just as much right to be there as her adopted son and the sushi seller.

Them fighting unhenshined did not make sense. In earlier episodes they would transform to kill a grasshopper but for the final battle they conveniently forget they are henshin happy. The final damn battle!! I get them being unhenshined in Shinken-Oh but the other scenes were obvious fan service.

I am sure when I watch the finale a fourth time . . . I'll find more things to add on the pile.

I'm writing it off because IMO it deserves it but I still love the series and I can't wait for the movie. It's actually one of my top favs.

In conclusion: To each their own.

It was very funny. The school scene where everyone, including boy Kotoha, was in love with boy Mako was just hilarious. I wish they would have shown when the group got back together but beggers can't be choosers.

I also enjoyed the scene where Ryuu was Tono. I love how the group was teasing Takeru at the end. :nod: I enjoyed it a lot.
