This may seem like a stretch but anyone out there read books? I personally love to read Fantasy Genre books, I also love Sci-Fi books but I mostly read fantasy. And all of the books I read usually have lots of action in them I mean I hate books that drag on and on. I also love adventure type books where the main character goes on a journey. Well I'm not sure how many of you potheads read lol j/k.... but I know some of you do.... >_>

i read, whenever i feel like it...and so far, i've been working on this one book for over 4 months now..i got it as a christmas present, and i'm not even done with it...;_; it's kinda pathetic...

i try to read it, but i just can't seem too..it's a great book, don't get me wrong, but i just have to be in the mood to read...

i love any kinds of book actually....the book i'm reading is 'P.S. I Love You'...its a great book, the movie is no where near as great as the book...

i also, whenever i can, read manga's too..yeah, i think it's the asian in me to read them! ^_^...i have Devil May Cry manga's..and pretty soon, i'm gonna try to get all of the Bleach mangas too...don't know when though, i guess whenever i get the money! lol...

I would have to say I love reading Sci-Fi books. I have been reading Seeker by Jack McDevitt for the last 2wks and I'd say it's pretty good so far.

Also love reading Action/Adventure books.Havn't read too many of them, but I'm trying to get into reading more.

Can't forget manga's.Mostly on what catches my eye.

Cool thread, while I'm a college student and history major and I love to write :) I also like to read I'm into the sci-fi/horror genre and I have a thing for any kind of literature that has to do with the Paranormal or Ancient History. I normally finish about a book every two to three weeks. It depends how interesting it is :)

I've never had a deep passion to read (which may seem odd considering I like to write). But I did however get into this book called, "Chasing Yesterday". It's a book series by Robin Wasserman. I highly suggest all you mystery lovers to read that book.

I'm a history major as well, and I'm constantly reading books about my concentrations, Colonial America and Tudor/Stuart/Hanoverian English history. Currently, I'm reading "The Children of Henry VIII" by Allison Weir, and "A History of Britain Vol II" by Simon Schama (aka history GOD).

Also reading "The Scroll of Seduction" by Gioconda Belli, about the life of Juana the Mad, daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain.

I love to read. I spend the majority of my time reading textbooks for school (History/Sociology double major in University) and one of my textbooks has actually made it onto my favourites list. Although, I do prefer to read pleasure novels in my spare time... I'm huge into Chick Lit (Shopaholic Series, etc) but I really do like the Action/Adventure books as well (Give me anything by Robert Ludlum and I'm sold lol)

Hmm since I've had nothing to do but read when my brother opens at work I got some new books to talk about. I read Peter Straub's Shadowland which was terrific. He's really good for fiction that seems to be grounded in mostly reality. Also been reading a series by an author named Karen Chance that really doesn't get awesome till the second book.

I love reading, I just can't seem to be able to sit down and read it without interuption. I mostly like books that's well blend of action, sci-fi, fantasy, adventure with some drama and romance thrown in. My favorite books at the moment are the Animorphs series by K.A. Applegate and the Five Ancestors by Jeff Stone.
Just yesterday I read and finished the book 21: Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich. It's a fun read and so much different from the movie 21. After reading it, I concluded yes it makes me want to play blackjack, but I'm not that big of a risk taker to count cards at casinos so I play, I play for fun.
My next series read project is going to be The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The movies look promising and thus why I decided to pick it up. I hope its good, =).

Just finished Alison Weir's latest novel, The Lady Elizabeth. It was...alright, to say the least. It was based on historical fact, but the huge romantic distortions she made with Elizabeth I's relationship with her stepfather Thomas Seymour closely resembled another author's distorting history for the purpose of entertainment *cough* Phillipa Gregory *cough*.

I have just started Eric Ives' The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn. I am very excited to read this, and I'm only a quarter of the way through the book, and the detail and speculation are sheer genius.

:abakill >_> Why is it that I never saw this thread before?

Anyways, I LOVE reading. In high school, I read every spare minute of the day. Now, I don't read as often, but whenever I have nothing to do, it's just great to curl up with a good book. I've read most of the books I own at least twice, but it's always fun to find new books.

The most recent one I finished is "Southland" by Nina Revoyr. It's a really good story that talks a lot about the history of California. It covers subjects of racism, sexuality, and the bond between people. I really enjoyed it.

Usually I read fantasy books, thrillers, mysteries, and some science fiction. A lot of times I like stories that are really out there and far from reality, because then I can escape from this world for a while and live in another.

To be honest, I like reading better than watching movies or TV shows. When I read, I picture the setting, characters, voices, action, everything. It gets my imagination going. Reading takes me to another world, and sometimes I forget that I'm reading and not watching what's going on. Does anyone else get as into it as that? :abakill

my best friend got me into the Anita Blake series written by Laura K. Hamilton. It's about a vampire hunter/necromancer. She has so many books in the series and my best friend has every single book. So at the moment, once i'm done with school, i'm gonna start reading them again. She also now have her own comic book drawn by the artists of Marvel Comics. So far, 2 comic books are out and they are amazing. The story has alot of blood so be warn. Parental Advisory. It's an action series and it's totally amazing!! I hope they make her books into movies. that would be sweet.

Speaking of books into movies, all the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer are becoming into movies now. My friend loves the series. She wants me to get into it too, but at the moment, i have to finish reading the Anita Blake series. so i have alot of reading to do. but once i'm done with school of course!

Anita Blake eh? A friend of mine has a few of those books but meh. I have fulfilled my reading of vampire books for the next hundred years XD. Anyways currently reading "The Taking" by Dean Koontz and I gotta say it's good but it's typical Koontz. "Everything was normal...UNTIL SOMETHING SUPERNATURAL HAPPENED*cue dramatic music*." Still waiting on my new Star Wars books. The Thrawn Trilogy.

I love to read, action adventure, fantasy, mystery, anything with a good plot and good characters. I mostly like the teen book serise and novels, love novels. I like certian movie/TV books, (most the time the book is better) Like Blood and Chocolete, I so like the ending to the book better than the movie version. But yeah me a reader, try to read when I can and when I don't read I'm writing lol.

I read a lot of books! My personal favorites are anything fantasy/fictional... i love escaping the realms of reality. I've read all the Harry Potters several times, The entire Animorphs series several times, The Twilight Saga, Goosebumps are fun, I have the original Hardy Boys books which I love... I read a lot of the Gossip Girl books, but I would never recommend them. They really suck >.<. Anything by Nicholas Sparks is a must for me.

I also enjoy reading celebrity books such as sTori Telling & Miles to Go... Jonas Brothers, Amped Up: Aly & AJ... you know the usual thing from me.

I also like reading stories based on historical events though I rarely read the non-ficional ones. I used to enjoy reading those fictional stories based on the events that are usually assigned to you in high school.

I just like books. lol

I'm currently reading the summer reading for my college's freshmen (I'm a TA for them, so I have to read it, too); the book is entitled "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell, and I have to tell you guys...it's phenomenal. It delves into real life examples of individuals or group of people who are particularly successful and those who are not. The author explains how and why this happens, and it is quite fascinating.
