Tell me about it. It already has the possibility of blowing Power Rangers out of the water for me. At least the newer PR stuff.
Plus the actor for Dragon Knight looks better than the original. The villain concept is sweet as it reminds me of Grimlord in a sense. Plus it appears the Riders are going to have some REALLY interesting back stories of their own to bring to the series.

I just saw the trailer and I have to say, my faith in Cartoon Network is half restored. If this is just the tip of what they're planning, then Jetix has some major league competition on their hands. The only question remaining now is, 'When is this beast of a show scheduled to air on TV?'.

KRDK is coming to the CW4Kids....
Japan's Adness Entertainment licenses the US broadcast rights for Kamen Rider Dragon Knight to 4Kids Entertainment, which plans to air the series as part of TheCW4Kids Saturday morning block on The CW Network for the 2008-9 season. Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, a live-action series featuring CGI special effects, follows the adventures of a teen discovers a mysterious deck of cards that give him the power to transform into an ancient warrior called a Kamen Rider. Produced by Adness Entertainment, which is adapting for the US, the series is based on the original series Kamen Rider Kyuki, produced by the Toei Company.

Ok, so it finally did get picked up. That's pretty good news although I'm not really sure how it will turn out. The demo pilot was one of the biggest piles of garbage I've ever seen with some of the worst acting and writing possible. I know it's just a demo meant for the different producers, studios, and TV broadcasters to understand what the show is about but still, it was shit. With all the actors being changed though and that awesome trailer for the series, I could see the show turning out to be good.

Posted on RB by PrometheusUFO.
Greg Weisman has confirmed that a new network has been chosen to air the second season of Spectacular Spider-Man in early 2009. Also, the new season of TMNT will only be 13 episodes instead of the usual 26, so it'll most likely be finished by mid-season (early 2009) when Kamen Rider is set to premiere.
A 4Kids rep has already posted the fall schedule for CW4Kids (beginning September 13th) on another forum, and Kamen Rider is unfortunately not on it yet. But maybe there'll be a mention of it during the CW4Kids New Season Sneak Peek special, airing on CW Sept 12th at 4:30PM?..
Theres a slight chance KR will get mentioned in the CW Fall lineup preview.

It's a decent way of avoiding some of the Issues Censor happy groups would have. The stakes are still up there, as ruthlessly enslaving people one by one gives off that creepier atmosphere Kamen Rider is known for Japan with out you know. . . Getting to intense for American Standards.

The problem I have with this, and Im not saying that KRDK is a bad idea. Is that US version on kid entertainment, is different then that of Japan. THat is the reason PR get so kiddy. Different from other American toku shows? Well, lots of stuff. It’s an action drama, rather than an action comedy. The themes are more adult. We deal with honor and courage and taking responsibility for your actions, and unlike other shows, we show the consequences of what happens when you don’t. [B]The story is one long arc, rather than a bunch of short, stand alone episodes. It’s more like ‘Lost’ and ‘Heroes’ than it is like Power Rangers. The acting and directing is better, and the story has more emotional weight. I think you’re really going to get involved in the characters and their struggles.
Anti-Power Rangers. That's what I like.
Even though I wouldn't watch Power Rangers now if you paid me, I don't think I'd even consider going back to Power Rangers, after the premier of Dragon Knight.
I have somewhat high expectations for this series.

That's hardly being anti-PR. He's just saying that DK will be different from Power Rangers. Which is of course a good thing.
Si.
The proper term is "transformation".
"Morph" means transform. So it really doesn't matter.

You see that is the mindset that PR writers need. Freakin' brilliant.

Meaning he wants it to be nothing like PR.
On the contrary. "Morph" was coined by Power Rangers, you don't use it with Kamen Rider.

Oh Really?
On the contrary. "Morph" was coined by Power Rangers, you don't use it with Kamen Rider.
Morph is real word in the English dictionary, used before PR even aired. And guess what? It means 'to transform', thus Kamen Riders do morph, despite what they call it. They can say hoobabooblawoo to change, yet they would still be morphing.
John Marston
12-09-2008, 04:35 PM
I see your point actually Jason... If DK wants to disenfranchise itself form PR then it shouldn't use morph as the colloquial phrase.
When I think of "morph" I automatically think PR.

I would be like ShinkenRed raising his hand to the sky and saying "Henshin!".
Nightingale

Hnshin still means to transform. So does Morph. Therefore, the use of the word 'morph' here is just as accurate as 'transform' or 'henshin'.

Look at use debating on what transformation word to use... Damn you DK start already!!!

I'm not saying that they should use 'morph' at all. I'm simply saying how if someone wants to refer to their transformation with that word, then they can because it's accurate.

12-09-2008, 04:40 PM
well... If I may but in for a mere second, but last time I checked or remembered... Henshin means Change, and not Transform even though both words mean the same...
But yeah, I can understand Jason's reasons on Kamen Rider NOT using the word Morph since it would associate it too much with Power Rangers (since they've been using that word ever since 1993), and remember that the Wang Brothers wants Kamen Rider to be different then Power Rangers. Just like how Kamen Rider in Japan is different then Super Sentai

My two cents:
-The opening theme song was rather corny. I stifled a laugh.
-The acting is actually pretty damn decent. Although Matt Mullins does seem a little bland at times.
-There's a lot of drama, which is a nice change of pace. The whole situation with Kit and his Father really makes you sympathize.
-The Ryuki footage blended in very well with the american footage... Learn a lesson here, Disney.
- This series has major potential.

YAY!!! Here's my review:
- I didn't like the opening at all. Kinda of dull.
- I like the character development of Kit and his past with his father. That was good.
- Len, all is I have to say is BADASS. His martial art skills are awesome.
- I felt like I watched Saban's Power Rangers. No dumb comedy bullshit. That is a good sign!
- I lol'd the 'misunderstandings' part
They could've use that dialogue to call out before transformation "henshin!" instead of "Kamen Rider!". I think it's kinda lame to shout "Kamen Rider!". Ah, well. I'll live anyway.
Holy crap. Kamen Rider is finally in America for us to watch! I've been waiting for LONG TIME and it finally came! At least we have to wait for January 3rd.
I loved this episode. I will give this 4 out of 5. Could've little bit more dialogue. Otherwise, it's nice start.
BTW, I actually like this better than the original pilot.

Well I just finished watching it. I liked it a lot the whole theme made me laugh. I remembered Jason saying he tried to stifle it and that just pushed me over the edge. Okay, while having to resort to YT to watch it... I gotta say that I am pretty much impressed
The theme song I fucking love since it is like a mix of Gothic Rock, Hard Rock with a lot of Heavy Metal thrown on top of it
The characters are interesting, the acting is nice and like Jason says you really sympathizes with Kit with all the stuff/shit he is going through like his dad missing.
The use of Slow-mo here is handled way better then Disney's PR, and the fight choreography is actually much better then in PR as well. Of course Matt Mulders is a very well known Martial Artists so that is of course a plus.
The storyline seems very maturish and not dumbed down which has been the case for PR for a little while now, which is good since this means no downtalking to the kids who watch this show (and hopefully learn something).
The blending of American footage and Ryuki footage was done very nicely like in the Pilot, however I HATE the ADR work that Kit's actor Stephen does when he is Dragon Knight (or in this case Blank Knight XD), it sounds so... Fake while Matt sounds more natural, more pro.
Overal I am pretty impressed and also enjoyed the first episode of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, so yeah, call me crazy but looking at this, something tells me that KRDK is going to PWN PRRPM AND be a very enjoying show for young and old...
And now the 3 weeks wait is on >_<... ugh!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE HEROES OF DRAGON KNIGHT!
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/327404459_522632.gif
After great turmoil in the world of American toku, the fandom was hard at work writing letters to Santa, asking him to bring them something fresh this holiday season. Something that could challenge the likes of Power Rangers as a force to be reckoned with. Santa's answer?... "Kamen Rider Dragon Knight!"
Our story begins in the indoor parking lot, much like the one during the opening to the "Highlander" movie. As a young asian woman walks over to her car, she hears a strange sound. She's unable to see what's behind her. She got a stalker, y'all. An inhuman monster that wants to take her away to do goodness-knows-what with her once he's got her where he wants her!
The woman tries to fight back as she is grabbed and slowly dragged into a reflective surface, which has become a portal to another world. It's like Stargate, except with 2% the budget. But suddenly, out of the swirling mirror, a guy on a motorcyle comes fying in, smacking the monster away from the woman. The monster is clearly teed off at this point, and a few of his friends jump out of the mirror to rough up the buzzkill that wants to ruin their fun.
It's only then that the almost rape victim realizes who- or what- just saved her.... IT'S BATMAN! OMG, I HOPE HE DOES THE VOICE! .......... No, wait. It's not Batman- that's his second cousin, on his mother's side, Kamen Rider Wing Knight! He's here to lay the smackdown on these punks! And he'll do it with the help of his Yu-Gi-Oh cards and his Duel Monster, Black Wing!
The parking lot attendant and the asian lady watch in astonishment as the Rider launches into an amazing attack... against nothing. The lady can't believe that she's been rescued by a certified schizophrenic. But really, it's what she and the parking lot attendant CAN'T see that's impressive. Wing Knight is beating the crap out of his invisible friends and looking cool doing it.
After all the baddies have been dispatched, Wing Knight is showered in flashes of energy and morphed into his human form. Now, his real name is Len, but I'm going to call him Keanu Schwarzenegger. With the glasses, the motorcycle, and the tendency to speak in a scary monotone voice, I think it's quite fitting. Who names their kid Len anyway? Is that short for Leonard?
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/mattmullinsattacksMika.jpg
Matt Mullins in "Adventures of Johnny Tao: Rock Around the Dragon"
In any case, Keanu helps the young lady to her feet and when she questions him about what she thought might have happened, he allows her to believe that whatever kinda crazy he has, it's contagious. And now that he's touched her, she's got it too. With that, Keanu hops on his transforming motorcycle and the parking lot attendant waves goodbye as he swoons over the hero's animal charisma. Ten seconds later, Len is driving through the streets and transforms again so that we can have a cool lead-in for the opening credits.
The opening credits assault your senses with a hard rock song and a storm of flashy visuals, including what is probably every main Kamen Rider the show is going to have, as well as some super-quick mentions of the three lead actors' names. Don't blink or you'll miss em. The song itself is not what I had hoped for (which was a more ambiguous track that you might have a chance to sell as a "regular song"), but ya know what? Given the option between this and Fake Outkast trying to rap about Kamen Riders raising the roof with mad skillz, I choose this.
Next, we find ourselves in... I'm not sure where it is. It's either a police station or a social worker's office, or some such business. In any case, 18-year-old Kit Taylor is in trouble with the law. He's trying to explain to his father why he's such a screw-up when we suddenly realize he's just as crazy as Keanu. His father isn't really there. In fact, his face is on a missing person's flyer on the wall. Kit's case worker is standing over him telling him to get his act together. His foster home situation is coming to an end, cuz he's too old for this shit. It's time to shape up and ship out.
But as Kit leaves the office, his bout with sanity gets the better of him as he hears his father telling him to "search for the dragon." Oh my god. THAT'S THE NAME OF THIS EPISODE! Kit has no idea that the dragon in question is actually stalking him from behind the reflective surfaces. These people and their invisible friends...
Kit returns to his foster home to find that they've already found a REPLACEMENT for him. Wow, can you feel the love in that room?! Well, one person is happy to see him at least. It's his young friend, Jesse, who comes with a birthday present. A picture with a frame that he stole from his foster sister. And the circle of child dilinquency is complete.
After Kit returns the hot merch, he bids farewell to Jesse by repeating his father's apparently famous words. "When the going gets tough, the tough go riding." ...... We won't discuss WHY those words are famous.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/normal_DSC_0149.jpg
Kit rides to what we can assume is the home he lived in with his father when he was around. The place really needs those Queer Eye guys to come in and give it a homey feel. Especially considering the cool flashbacks Kit is having as he remembers the place being more alive as a kid, hanging with his dad, cracking unfunny jokes.
I love the visual style used here. In fact, all the more surreal moments of dream and memory are done especially well, considering. The only thing that might have made this better would be if there wasn't so much COLD, DEAD SILENCE in so much of the show. Seriously. You could hear a pin drop in some of these scenes, even if the characters have dialogue.
So Kit's snooping through dad's things while I'm imagining that he might find his father's secret pot stash and go to town. Instead he finds an Advent Deck. Wait a sec... Didn't Keanu have some Yu-Gi-Oh cards that look just like that?! I smell a duel coming on!!! Kit goes onto the balcony and is freaked out by his deck suddenly glowing and the dragon flies out of the mirrors across the street directly toward him. Kit throws up his hands in fear, but the deck creates a shield that deflects the dragon and it goes flying off. I would love to be a fly on the wall during Kit's therapy sessions.
Meanwhile, we're introduced to the lovely and talented Maya, a reporter for WayAboveTopSecretSeriouslyWe'reNotJokingThisShitIs Crazy.Com... or something. She's chatting with her buddy Trent about all the mysterious disappearances lately. Looks like the asian lady isn't the only rape victim these monsters have claimed recently. Enter Lacey, the fly sistah who is pretty much just there to add some much-needed sass to the episode before Maya peaces out in hot pursuit of the rape story.
Maya reveals that she too may be crazy, as she talks to herself about all the disappearances while walking down the street. Kit is also walking down the street, but his particular dementia is causing him to see a man get yanked through a mirror by a giant spider. And there are more rapists ready to attack Maya! Kit's gotta save her!
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/l_f02f7174369d4cc481ef01bb2f43e7b0.jpg
Kit rushes in to tell the baddies to back off. Maya, of course, thinks he's nuts since she can't see the rapists like Kit can. And so Kit has to push her out of the way so he can have a fight sequence. Kit's not exactly a pro at this. He gets in a few good hits, but goes down pretty quick, and Maya gets sucked into a mirror.
But hold up! The offending rapists got kicked back out of the mirror by an unseen assailant. OMG, it's Keanu Schwarzenegger again, and he's carrying Maya back out of the mirror! This dude's timing is just impeccable.
Kit watches in awe as Keanu reveals that he does indeed know kung fu, and he makes mincemeat out of the rapists... What exactly is mincemeat anyway?
In any case, Keanu is still pretty worked up after the fight, so he walks over to Kit and begins to sexually molest him, under the pretense of looking for his Yu-Gi-Oh cards. He reaches into his bulging pockets and pulls out a wallet, but that's obviously NOT what he was reaching for, so he tosses the wallet away and keeps searching.
http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr73/DragonKnightGenerations/a9d0aa21.jpg
Kit is thoroughly creeped out, so he gets the hell outta there. When Keanu realizes that Maya photographed the entire molestation, he quickly walks up to her, drops her camera and smashes it to bits. Obviously, Mr. Schwarzenegger is still trapped in the closet.
Kit tries to run, but it's not long before the spider monster comes back. It snaps at him, forcing Kit to fall backwards into a reflective surface that transports him into a big, shiny in-between mirror dimension thing. His Yu-Gi-Oh cards activate and suddenly cover him with some fancy-schmancy armor before he gets spit out into another world, where the spider monster is waiting to make Kit his bitch. Where's Samwise Gamgee when you need him?
Keanu finally catches up to where Kit was last, and realizes there's another monster. So he takes out his Yu-Gi-Oh deck and utters the words "Kamen Rider," causing him to morph back into Batman's second cousin, Wing Knight. He then steps into the mirror, where a sweet ride (or something) is waiting to take him into the other world.
Meanwhile, Kit is having a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day, getting knocked around by the spider like nobody's business.
At last, Wing Knight comes blasting through a mirror, knocking the spider over on his approach. He quickly demonstrates how a real man uses the Yu-Gi-Oh cards, inserting one into his card port thing and summoning a weapon from his invisible friend, who just happens to be a giant bat.
So, Wing Knight is doing his thing with the monster, but Kit gets the bright idea to join in and be cool like Keanu. He inserts a card into his port, gets a sword from the sky (which has got to have so many fun and easy applications) and rushes in to fight. And in .002 seconds, gets his sword broken and knocked back.
Keanu has had enough, and he bitchslaps Kit like a two-dollar hooker to get him out of the way for his awesome finisher. The most powerful card in his entire Yu-Gi-Oh deck is used, causing his bat friend to wrap its wings around him as he jumps into the air, then forge into a spinning needle type thing. The spider never knows what hit him, as the big needle comes slamming down into him and he explodes. There's dead spider bits all over the place, but Wing Knight rises up like the Terminator, undamaged.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/normal_Wing_Knightcopy-1.jpg
Kit is embarassingly shocked and amazed. Wing Knight has got a bone to pick with this noob, but it's gonna have to wait because Puff the Magic Dragon has finally caught up with Kit, and he's so not going down without a fight this time.
The dragon releases puffs of flame from his mouth, causing explosions to shoot up all over the place, which.... Ya know what, I don't know if they had to do this in order to "take down the intensity" of the scene, but the explosions had very little impact to them because of the sound. There practically isn't any. If you closed your eyes during the sequence, you'd think the dragon was attacking them by letting the air out of a bunch of balloons really quickly.
In any case, the explosions are a lot more dangerous than they sound, and not even Keanu Schwarzenegger is fast enough to outrun them. It's not long before the two are being consumed in hot flame, and the dragon is inches away from chowing down on them.
To Be Continued... (http://www.kamenridertv.com/)
I must say, I really enjoyed this episode. In terms of writing and tone, it's definitely aiming for a more serious perspective on the sub-genre. I appreciated that I wasn't being treated like an ignorant who only responds to bright flashing rainbow colors and loud flatulant noises. The show had little time to introduce a whole new world to us, and I think they got off to a great start.
I do have an issue with the overall soundtrack though. I mean, there's a lot of dead air in-between dialogue and some extra music and backgound sound would have added a LOT. It doesn't kill the episode, but I do feel like my attention would have been grabbed more if there was something to fill those voids.
Overall, I'm liking the show quite a bit, and am excited to see where it goes from here. "Search for the Dragon" gets a B+.

I sat through that Staff and Cast chat that went on earlier tonight, and I have to say I'm won over.
The cast and Crew are down to earth, and honestly seem grateful for the built in fandom already. Stephen is just a wild and crazy guy, who sat through Ryuki and the original Kamen Rider for this, so he has my respect and kudos.
And as for the first Episode, It was alright. It kinda felt like it was going from place to place kinda fast, and not in the good Blade way either. But I'm chalking it up to First Episode/Arc Syndrome, where you gotta set everything up.

Okay.... so yeah I saw it and I gotta say i'm not impressed. There were a few problems (by now most people must have said what about to say so that just shows it's not just me.) First Matt's acting WTF sure he's a kick ass fighter but yeah i've seen better acting on Sci-fi. The ADR is SOOOOO bad.
Not to much on the plot (which is fine for a first epsiode) I also have to add what up with everyone coming from over acting land?!?! Kit was the only one that could act and that make me very sad.
I have to say it was average dispite it short comings. I hope they make some changes because if it it's expected to live it needs some work.
BTW whats up with the belt sound NO! JUST NO!
BTW 2: Kit was the saving grace.

So I ended up watching it on YouTube, and while I like it, there were plenty of things that could be improved upon.
The action scenes were nice. Good to see proper fights.
I love the transformation.
Wing Knight has a kickass belt.
The cliff-hanger ending was very anti-climatic.
The acting was far from great. Medicore at best.
Nice theme song.
Yeah, while I liked it and all, it feels like it fell to the same flaw that The Dark Knight fell to. The hype. That worried me when it was getting all this hype and attention, and I feared that it wouldn't manage to live up to what it was making itself out to be. We'll see how the next few episodes hold out in January, but if they all give me the same feeling like this, I'll watch it, but I won't rush to.
I won't begin to compare it to PR, especially since we've saw nothing of RPM. When the time comes I'll compare them for myself. But yeah, DK's premier gets a 3/5.

So yeah, saw the Dragon Knight pilot on VEOH instead of YouTube thinking there would be a better quality on there, looks like I was wrong huh >_>
Kit is awesome, Wing Knight (I presume his human name is Keanu or Len right?) needs a bit of improvement. Kit first, his side-story of his father going missing was believeable but they would of explained a bit more to how he disappeared in the first place. Keanu (or Len?) was ok(ish), his Knight form was awesome, his finisher and transformation was kickass to say the least but his fighting skills looks extremely weak and childish (LMAO that comment if you wish >_>). The human form looks like either Keanu Reeves from The Matrix or Arnold Schwarzenegger from The Terminator series and other stuff (:D) or both.
So yeah, out of 10 I give this episode an 8. I look forward to seeing more of this series (and hopefully I'll complete it by watching it from beginning till end).

I thought the first ep of Dragon Knight was really good.
I did find some stuff that could be improved upon. First the opening. Now I liked the song but them showing all the different riders was a mistake they should have keep then as shadows until they appeared in the show.
The acting IMO was really really good. Len is a little cold but that his character I guess.
I thought the mix of American scenes and Japan scenes was done well. I mean if you haven't seen Ryuki you probably couldn't tell the difference.
can't wait for Dragon Knight to start on January 3!!!!!!!

:abakill Well to start off, I've only read the last few pages of this thread. >_> And I have not been watching Ryuki, except for the first like two eps. So be aware of that.
But! I have seen the first ep, and it was AMAZING. Much better than the pilot we got before. I'm impressed with the acting, especially Kit and the girl (whatever her name is). Len is a little cold, but it's just his character. He did a good job.
Some GOOD things to point out:
-The bike is awesome, and the bike henshining thing is too cool!
-They used the Japanese footage really well, and they didn't use it much, which is refreshing!
-The theme song and music is great! All rock, metal, and slight techno elements. No hip-hop!
-The character development in the first ep is very promising. Kit has some depth to him, which is great!
-Yay for the Kamen Rider cliffhangers! They drive us nuts while getting us pumped for the next ep!
-The fighting is great, both henshined and not. I'm very impressed.
Some NOT SO GOOD things to point out:
-They say "Kamen Rider" to henshin? WTF? That will take some getting used to...
-The ADR is less than satisfactory...There's not nearly enough in certain parts, and there's not enough emotion in it. Hopefully it will be improved.
And that's it! Overall, I give this ep a 4/5 rating. How will we ever wait until January for more??? :abakill

I think part of it is just a question of editing though. The voices don't match up well with the suit actor's movements, and it seems like there's not really enough words to fill up the whole scene they used. It can get better with editing, if they choose to.
And actually, the first ep of a lot of shows is terrible compared to later episodes because they learned from their mistakes. I would hope that KRDK would be no exception to that.

RECAP: KAMEN RIDER DRAGON KNIGHT #2- "CONTRACT WITH THE DRAGON"
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/wallpaper01-1-1-1.jpg
Previously on Dragon Knight (http://heropower.livejournal.com/16399.html). Whatever town these people live in, there must be something in the water, because they all seem thoroughly crazy. They're seeing strange monsters that kidnap people through mirrors. And Kit Taylor is about to become just as crazy as Len (aka Keanu Schwarzenegger). Kit gets sucked into another dimension and is forced to run, as Puff the Magic Dragon tries to kill 'em with fire!
We begin just where we left off, as Kit is blasted by the dragon and does his best Tarzan yell in response. The armored Kit and Len get thrown through the city like rag dolls. Kit is understandably perplexed at this unlikely series of events. But Len doesn't have time for a heart-to-heart, so he tells him to hurry up and follow him through the mirror. Sadly, Kit is too busy marvelling at how WAY COOL it is to watch Len walk through the mirror to realize that Puffy is right on his tail again. EXPLOSION!
Kit rushes through the streets in confusion, until he realizes that he can get out through any reflective surface. He jumps through a shiney car just in time to escape Puffy's wrath.
Meanwhile, Maya Young is completely obsessed with Kit Taylor, whose wallet she has stolen and is still staring at the next day. Her buddy Lacey walks in and grabs the wallet, remarking at how hot Taylor looks in his driver's license... Seriously, who looks hot in a driver's license photo? Even the hottest people on the planet look like they were hit by a flaming bus with metal spikes in their ID pic. And it seems like Trent agrees with me. Of course, that's probably because he's got the hots for Maya. Cue "Saved by the Bell" audience reaction: "WooooOOOOOoooo!!!!!!"
But Trent also remarks that he knew Kit in high school. According to him, he's a filthy criminal who likes to steal mp3 players. And it all started when his dad disappeared.... OH SNAP, Maya thinks. THERE'S A CONNECTION! Kit's dad could have been taken by the mirror monsters.
Speaking of mirror monsters, the silent stalker guy in the mirror (aka Xaviax) is waving his hands around inside a reflection somewhere in the city. Looks like the spider monster from last week is being reconstructed.... I guess? It's not really explained.
Somewhere in here, there's a brief moment where Maya is placing a flyer in the window of the book store and she notices someone outside. It's that Terminator guy again! The one that rescued her from the apparent rape session with the mirror monsters!
She rushes outside to get his attention but he rides off. Maya, who apparently uses super-speed to keep up with him on his motorcycle, pursues him down the block. Len has to shake this chick fast, so he turns in to an alleyway. When Maya turns the corner, Len is nowhere to be found. But there's a nice, shimmering mirror just kinda standing there against the wall in the alley. As Maya walks away, a fully transformed Kamen Rider Wing Knight rolls by on the other side of the mirror.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/krnewmainpicwu5-1-1.jpg
In any case, Kit is all freaked out about what happened, and it's giving the poor lad nightmares. Once again, his psychosis starts to take hold, as he hears his dad speak to him in his subconscious. "Kit... Search for the Dragon... Remember the Contract Card." Aaaand this is about the 75th time he's said this in the first two episodes. But this time it looks like it might finally be sinking in.
Kit goes for a ride... Where he's going, I really don't know. In fact, I don't think he really knows either. But hey, when the going gets tough, the tough go riding, right? Suddenly he realizes he's being followed once again by Len. This has to be the smallest town ever.
Despite being incredibly curious as to what was going on just a few minutes earlier, Kit decides he wants to get away from Len, so he takes off like a bat outta hell..... Get it? A BAT. Cuz Wing Knight uses a BAT MONSTER!.... Anyway.... Kit underestimates the awesome driving of Len, and before he knows what's happening, he's inches away from slamming into a stuntman that happened to be walking by!
Kit is forced to come to a quick stop to avoid hitting the man, and Len catches up. Len swipes Kit's key out of the ignition and rides off, forcing Kit to follow him into a secluded area. Len clearly wants to spend some alone-time with Kit.
At last, Kit catches up and asks him what the hell is going on. Len gets straight to business, walking directly at Kit as he tells him he wants that thing in his pocket... his "Deck." He warns Kit that if he tries to use the Contract Card, he'll get "vented." These kids and their street lingo.
Before Kit can get anymore answers, they both hear the shrieky sound Kit was hearing a lot last week. Kit asks what it is, to which Len answers "A portal's opening... Someone's in trouble." Because whenever a portal opens, someone is always in trouble. Even five minutes ago, when Len went into the portal to escape Maya's super-fast pursuit. Someone was TOTALLY in trouble then! Whatever you have to tell yourself to feel special, Len. >_>
On a city rooftop, a technician is working on some equipment, when something strange appears in a reflective surface. Suddenly a thick, white substance shoots all over him. That ain't Peter Parker's webbing.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/1.gif
The webbing came from a thoroughly Un-friendly Neighborhood Spider who wants to do goodness-knows-what to this defenseless technician! The guy is about to get sucked off through the portal when Len and Kit show up just in time to yank him back. Spidey skitters off behind the mirror, but Len's not done with him yet. He tells Kit to sit down and shut up until he gets back from handing Spidey his ass.
Kit watches as Len calls out "Kamen Rider" and transforms into Wing Knight, quickly jumping into the mirror to take on the monster. Of course, Kit's not going to listen to a guy who tried to molest him at least once (http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr73/DragonKnightGenerations/a9d0aa21.jpg) already. He whips out his Advent Deck, calls out "Kamen Rider," and.... stands there silently, feeling like a complete jackass when nothing happens.
But Kit's dad invades his brain again, giving him his 76th reminder that he should probably, maybe, just think about perhaps using the Contract Card. Now, if I was Kit, I'd ask Mr. Taylor to explain to me just what this "contract" is all about. I mean, I wouldn't want to wake up for a shower the next morning and find that I'm missing a few things due to my merging with the dragon.
Kit is a lot less cautious than I would be, as he hears the portal sound (I'm just gonna call it "the buzz" from now on- that's what they call it in Highlander), and Puffy comes roaring out of some nearby windows. Kit raises his Contract Card and I guess that means Puffy won't be trying to barbecue him anymore. Instead, he's going to give his Kamen Rider form a little makeover. His grey armor becomes red, and his helmet and card deck bare the insignia of the dragon. He's a red guy now, which means we should pay more attention to him.
At this point, I'm sure the technician, presumably still sitting there on the roof, thinks he's going through an acid flashback as he watches all of this go down.
Meanwhile, in the mirror world, Wing Knight is kicking a..... Wait, no. Actually, he's not doing so good. He gets thrown off a building and the only thing that can save him is his bat friend. And even then, Spidey's so badass that he just crawls right down the building wall and shoots more goo at him, tying him up bondage-style.
Spidey fires off a barrage of spikes to finish off Len, but suddenly, Kit shows up in his spiffy, new red armor and knocks the spikes away. CUE SEXY 180-DEGREE CAMERA TURN TO SHOW OFF THE AWESOME COSTUME! Len doesn't seem the least bit phased by Kit's arrival, or the fact that he himself is still all tied up, and he immediately instructs Kit to use the cards.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/ryuki02-1-223x300.jpg
Kit uses the cards to summon a sword (it's actually the tip of Puffy's tail, if you pay close attention), which he hacks the crap out of the monster with. Then a Final Vent card comes out and Puffy shows up to help him out with his awesometastic Rider Kick, which blows the monster to kingdom come.
... Oh, I GET IT NOW! When you get "vented" that means you get killed to death! I'm totally gonna use that word on the street and see what happens!
A ball of energy rises out of the flaming spider guts and Puffy chows down on it as he flies away.
Unfortunately, Len weasels his way out of the monster's webbing off-camera, so we don't get to see him looking any more uncool than he already did when he was on the ground. He walks up to armored Len and the bad ADR commences. "You're welcome," Kit snarkily says to Len when he realizes he's not getting a "thank you" for saving his hyde. Kit is tired of his attitude, and he won't tolerate anymore molestations. Annoyed, Len says "You're Kamen Rider Dragon Knight now... Happy?"
And that's the end....... Wait, it's not over yet? Geez, watching Power Rangers, I'm just so used to the story being over once the bad guy goes boom. I guess we have a little more left to go.
Maya proves she's an effective stalker by appearing outside Kit's home as he returns from the battle (or whatever). She hands him back his wallet, but he's not interested in whatever she wants. Damn, nobody in this town ever wants to tell anyone anything ever. But when Maya pulls out a flyer for Kit's missing father, he gets intrigued.
Presumably, Kit tells Maya everything he knows (which isn't much, thanks to Kamen Rider Grumpy Pants), and she's all over this scoop like white on rice. She asks Kit if he's got a computer. What she SHOULD be asking is if he even has a job. But I'm thinking the answer might be no to both at the moment. The two of them leave as best buds so they can pursue this story.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/tristanism/PowerUp/sl003-300x199.jpg
But soon after they get outside, Kit gets the buzz. Maya hears it too, but has no idea what it means. Kit races over to a private area to do his thing, but Lacey is approaching from down the street. Whatever you're gonna do, do it fast, Kit!
Maya watches in awe as Kit morphs into Dragon Knight, gives a playful salute, and hops through the mirror. Lacey takes a thousand years to finally get to Maya, who is looking completely insane as she stares into the mirror. Lacey's not suffering from the same dimentia as Maya, so she can't see Kit fighting monsters, trying to save a random girl who's being dragged away by a crab monster.
Kit's not doing a fabulous job either. He gets knocked down and suddenly sees a cycle pull up in front of him and a figure walks out, dressed in dope-ass Kamen Rider armor. Kit's relieved to have another friend show up... until the guy tries to kill him till he dies from it! This dude's not playing for the same team!
TO BE CONTINUED...
I loved this episode. Compared to the premiere, this was just so much more interesting. There was a notable absence of cheese this time around. No more "the tough go riding" or the awkwardly-timed "Who are you talking to?" lines. The bad ADR was cut to a minimum as well.
I also just love Kit's personality in this episode. He had almost a Peter Parker sort of style when he finally got the hang of being a Rider. His snarky attitude about Len and the mystery Rider were a nice little touch. It was also cool that the death of the monster wasn't at the very end, and there was much more left to do beyond that point. I do hope they explain more clearly what the contract is all about, and why the dragon absorbed the ball of energy from the dead monster though.
All in all, it was a good episode. They really should have aired this alongside the premiere. It's just a much richer meal when the episodes are joined. A-
Lates! (http://heropower.livejournal.com/33268.html#cutid1)

Episode 4 was fantastic. Granted, the acting still needs some work, but Stephen Lunsford really got it at the end. Richie being vented was cool, but I wish that 'vented' meant something like 'sent to hell'. I wonder if Incisor's gonna be back.
Moriamur
01-25-2009, 06:31 PM
I think that in this case, 'vented' means being trapped in a sort of state of Limbo, or trapped between 2 different worlds/realms/dimensions
Either way, I enjoyed epi 4 of Dragon Knight, it wasn't really as good as epi 3, but it still enjoyed me a lot... It was also funny with Maya seeing Wing Knight changing, entering and getting kicked out by something that looks like a spider leg or something, and hey... It is the same electrician from epi 2... But that woman that Maya was with... What a bitch!
It is good to see that Kit has to study what cards he has in his Advent Deck and what each one does...
On and all, it is a nice epi and that cliffhanger ending (come on... That truly WAS a cliffhanger) was evil... Of course we all know which Rider that guy is... Or at least those of us who has seen or are watching Ryuki
btw, before I forget, I am glad that that rich kid snob is out of the picture, ugh I really disliked him... And Xaviax... Pretty impressive looking villain I must say... Anyways bring on epi 5

I actually loved Richie as a character and was sad to see him go. Yes, he was a douche, but he was a funny douche, and he contrasted the super-seriousness of the other Riders nicely.
Ep 4 was my favorite so far. Though the venting scene was too abrupt. They could have made it more clear exactly what happened to Incisor to make him lose. He seemed okay one second, and then he was suddenly dissolving.

02-01-2009, 06:25 AM
Okay, I just finished watching the first four episodes and the fifth is waiting for me to watch it on Monday but I have to say I am far from impressed. I have gotten to the point where I prefer Kamen Rider over Super Sentai lately so I was really hoping this would be kickass. From the trailers it looked like it would be but it is worse than mediocre. I'm going to watch at least the first quarter of the series before I make a decision on whether to continue or not. My problems lie in the production end. The acting, on ALL sides (except for Maya), is absolutely horrible. Len plays everything too low. Kit is unbelievable. Ritchie is a horrible character AND he is horribly named. Seems like they took two seconds, if that, to name this character and didn't put any REAL thought into it. Ritchie is a rich kid and "richie" is slang for rich kid. Could they be more transparent in their character naming?!?! Another problem I have is the editing. It's the most disjointed editing I've ever seen on a show. I mean, at least Overdrive was edited together well (except for the 16:9 squeezed into 4:3). That leads into the ADR and the voice acting. The ADR is not synched right and the voice acting is not real. In a fight, someone would not speak like their speaking casually to someone sitting beside them at the table! Near the end of the battle with Incisor in episode 3, Kit says "I've had enough of this. It's time you answer some questions." He calmly states it like he's talking to a friend. In reality, something like that would be yelled - even if only the first half. There is absolutely no emotion coming from anyone in the cast, except Maya. She's the only believable one - but she is still over the top a bit from time to time.
The last thing I want to talk about is that the writing is horrible. All those silences where in the original there is talking - that needs to be filled up! The dead air is horrible and agonizing. The dialogue is trite and unbelievable and way too "on-the-nose." That being said, I have half a mind to start adapting my own script from whatever they are doing next (if Dragon Knight is enough of a hit), copyright it and send it in to Adness with a letter saying "I want to write for your next show. Here is a sample of my work based on Kamen Rider Faiz/Blade (whichever they are doing next)." The thing is that MY riders will NOT say "Kamen Rider" as a transformation call. They WILL say "Henshin" and I will work it in there so that it will be believable that they speak a Japanese word to change. The technology is Japanese is a good option.
So does anyone know what they are doing next? Is it Faiz (going chronologically) or is it Blade?

I read on HJU that it's actually Tomica Hero Rescue Force.

I'm loving this so far! Definitely better than Disney's cheap Power Rangers.
Also, it was nice to see Kathy Christopherson again! It has been a while since I watched Guyver 2. :D

Well this show died out quick...>_>
I found the show boring.... I don't know why but it was like "Meh". The plot is thin. Doesn't intrigue me at all. Perhaps my standards are too high.. *shrug*

I can agree with you on that then. I'm having problems with the show as well. Then again, our standards are probably too high. Ryuki is awesome but Dragon Knight is falling the way of Wild Force and Operation Overdrive - it's sucking and comes nowhere near the high quality of the original.
But that is NOT being a Toku snob. I am judging it by it's own aspects. I stick by all the things I said in my previous post about, none of which were about story changes.

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, episode 6: "Kamen Rider Torque".
This is getting better and better! Now here's my review, highlight from Henshin Justice and paste it here:
Wow. That was incredible. Absolutely amazing ever I've seen.
- I liked the flashback of Wing Knight, original Dragon Knight, Torque and Xaviax at Xaviax's place. That was awesome.
- Wow! I liked when Torque told Kit about Len, and Kit wasn't happy that Len is still working for Xaviax. That was epic!
- A lot of action packed!
- I loved when Wing Knight fight against one grunt that has his own style skill.
- Kit's father! :O_O:
- Hmmm.... JTC... how mystery.
I'm looking forward to see next episode, "Friend or Foe" and then next two weeks, "Kamen Rider Camo".
Overall, awesome episode.

Is anyone still keeping up with Dragon Knight? I kinda dropped off after episode three.

"Kamen Rider Thrust" episode was incredible. Kamen Rider Thrust was awesome and I'm disappointed that Camo is already gone. :-/
I feel like this show is actually old school. This show makes me hate Disney's Power Rangers EVEN more.

I'm giving it more of a chance than I think I want to. I still am not impressed with it but I'm waiting until at least through episode 10 or 15.

I've been keeping up with this show, just recently saw episode nine. While I never saw Ryuki itself, I have to say that I'm starting to enjoy this show also. I think Len is kickass as Wing Knight, Kit's pretty good itself and some of the riders they battle are unique: I'll agree with ForeverRed's opinion on Thrust: so far, he's become my favorite of them aside from Dragon and Wing Knight.

The latest episode was pretty damned good. The show is getting better.
- Thrust getting vented was kinda annyoing. Why? Why did they vent him? I like him. He was good. I liked Camo and he got vented too early as well! BAH! Hell, he was in his armor the whole time!
- I actually felt bad for Maya when she was fired (via e-mail, no less). Michlle Walsh is a bitch, and I like it.
- Aw, man, there goes Drew. Torque got vented :( That's three Riders I like that got Vented (and Drew being my favorite) . I fear for Sting!
- Strike is just evil. He vented two riders this episode and is cool about it.
- Kit's line about Chris and Len being corny was funny!
- Well, that's the last episode until July. Huh. Well, at least we still got RPM (which, to me, is more of a priority).
It did feel a bit rushed. Probably because of that damned long "Last time" segmant. Why can't they just SHORTEN THAT DOWN? Seriously, you could miss one episode and not bother watching it, and you'd still know what happened in most of it thanks to the segmant. Oh well, 4/5.
I keep waiting for Siren to show up. I hope she'll be a main character when she does (DON'T tell me when she is intorduced if you know). They haven't even updated the opening like once.

I liked that this show's pace keeps getting better, but the tone and mood is just plain dry for my tastes. That and I am biased to Ryuki and how Ryuki has been done. Ryuki was my first rider afterall. I can't help but wonder what they're going to do with the left over Torque footage now that he's vented.

Possibly nothing. It's very clear that they are defying the Ryuki footage.

^But we saw in the trailer that Torque the Heavyarms Zolda or Zolda the Heavyarms Torque blasted several Orphie-looking kaijins from the movie KR Ryuki Episode Final's footage.

I gotta say that the last episode of Dragon Knight was kinda good. I mean even though it was a flashback episode it wasn't that bad all in all.
I'm guessing(hoping) that the series will start to pick up now with so many riders being killed off already XD. Poor Torque I felt bad for him since he already died they have so much for footage for him ;_;
But I'm guessing that maybe they will use the Time Advent card some how to bring Torque back as a good guy......maybe >_>
well I can't wait to see what they do with the Survive form >_><_<
oh also did you know that you can but the bike that Kit drives in the show and you'll get to meet the actor for Kit.......

I watched a few episodes of this, I think it is ok, little weird but still entertaining..
Now Matt Mullins, hmm he played on that XMA show on discovery with Mike Chat. Did he also play in that MTV series Black Belt, were they did challenges and point fights. I beleive his last oppopent got disqualified he didnt have a chance to get the points need to win.
If you like Martial Arts I would check out the special, uses stuff to 3d model the actors so you can see what would and is happening to there body as they fight, oooooo -goes to find it on youtube-

Of course it wasn't dead. 4Kids had it on a planned haitus and turned the rest into a "second" season, they do that with a lot of their shows apparently
