The Cry of Angels
■Part One■
Kier stood over the fiery coals of the forge, his shoulder length black hair hung damp from sweat around his face from the immense heat of his shop. His deep green eyes focused upon the iron rod he held to the fire, he watched as the color of the metal in the fire turned from red to a mixture of yellow and orange. The corner of Kier’s red lips curved up into a small smile as he pulled the metal from the heat, bringing it around to begin hammering the piece. His pale hand grabbed his large stone hammer which he had since his father passed it down to him, hand carved from the first of his family who left their homeland to start a life of peace among others who‘s lives were not based on war... But even then, it seemed as though war followed his family, but like his father‘s before him he was not going to dampen his dream of living in peace and everyday he used the hammer he remembered why he decided to take on this life. Why he decided to live in peace away from his people, away from the eternal wars of his people.
He brought the hammer down, striking on the hot metal causing sparks to burst from it, as the loud clang of the iron clash could be heard all across the village, which was a sound he, as well as the people of Amir, that was all to familiar as of the last five years.
Keir watched the metal flatten with each powerful blow, each time the hammer hit flashes crossed his mind, flashes of his past, his sacrifices and time it took to get to this point. He remembered the day he came to the village of Amir, the town knew nothing about him yet took him in and allowed him to live a peaceful life there. But now there was a storm coming, he could feel it deep within his spirit, whatever was coming he knew he had to be ready and he hoped to the gods that he would not have to leave this home...

A few miles east of the village was a forest named Melaney Xylon or Dark lives in the forest. The forest held the legend of a curse of the three dark spirits that many said haunted the trees. A low rumble of thunder sounded over the canopy of the trees from the storm clouds above that flowed across the sky like liquid. The trees wavered nervously as lightening flashed over head. ]FLASH[ A single white bolt crashed downward towards the ground, hitting one of the many thick trees in an instance, splitting it in two. The tree lid a bright yellow and then suddenly went black as it died. The surrounding trees swayed in sorrow as dark shadows began flowing out of the dead tree.
If one should look closely, they would have seen the markings the tree bore. The carvings of strange symbols, Angelic in origin for those who have such knowledge of the sort. As the shadows slowly began to take form, dark laughter could be heard through out the thick air of the trees chanting... <The time has come, the child is near... The Light shall turn darkness with fear>
Not far of from the lightening strike, three young men who were on the hunt looked to one another with unease. After seeing the flash in the distance. Jacob, who was the youngest of the three, his age being around 17, held a slight terrified look upon his face. "M-maybe we should head back to the village,"He suggested with a shaky voice. His bright blue eyes looked hopeful towards Kain, the eldest of them as he knew Asher, the hot head, would not consider the thought. As Jacob predicted Asher was instantly opposed to it, "What are you? Because you surely are no man, cowering over a little lightning like a girl." He said bursting into laughter at Jacob's expense. Jacob looked down feeling embarrassed as Asher usually made him feel, Asher was only a few years older but he was much bigger and stronger than he was, he was even bigger than Kain, his older brother who had a disappointed look upon his face as he looked to his brother. Kain's dark eyes looked to Asher, "You need to shut your mouth Asher, Jacob speaks reason... It is not the wisest thing to be surrounded by tree's during a lightening storm, we should head back."
Asher rolled his eyes, "You are both nothing but cowering women, forget it, I will go hunt that deer myself, you two can go crying off back to the village," he said with a smirk, his deep red hair hanging over his blue eyes. Kain went to speak again but Asher was already running off in the direction of the strike, not doubt curious of where it struck. Jacob looked to Kain with a sorrowful look, "I'm sorry Kain, I didn't wish to seem like a coward..." Kain smiled a bit at Jacob and rubbed the boy's dusty blond hair.
"Your not being a coward, your being wise. Now are you alright to stay here while I drag Asher back so we can go?" He asked him, he knew that Jacob would be safe there and knowing Jacob's bad sense of direction he didn't want to send him back and worry about him getting lost. Jacob smiled a bit feeling a little better about himself.
"Yeah, I'll be fine." Kain nodded and then headed out the way Asher had gone.
Asher ran threw the tree's until he came towards the tree that was struck, slowing to a walk before stopping as he looked up at the large and old dead tree before him. Blinking he slowly walked up towards it, his eyes wandering along the burn bark as he moved touching it. As he did he felt a strange shock, causing him to withdraw his hand quickly as he looked at in confusion. That was when he saw the symbols, tilting his head he looked upon them, unfamiliar of what they meant or said. Suddenly Asher felt a hand on his shoulder and he shouted in fright, only to turn and see his brother Kain laughing. "Some brave man, I wasn't even trying to sneak up on you," Kain said in his laughter, Asher frowned at him and pushed his brother hard, making him step back, "Don't laugh at me" he growled.
"Oh so you can't be laughed at but you can laugh at anyone? Very interesting logic brother." Kain said with a snicker. Asher shook his head angry,
"What are you doing here? Where is your little ward?"
"Jacob is waiting for us, and I'm here to bring you home. We can get the deer tomorrow, it isn't safe in these woods"
"You are such a woman, your scared of a little storm? And you know there is nothing dangerous about these woods, unless you are like the other superstitious women in the village," He said with a smiled.
"I don't need to be superstitious to know that wolves and bears still roam these woods and it is not safe for ANYONE to be out here alone. So let's go.. Now" He said as he glanced at the tree a moment. As his eyes fell upon the symbols he got a sinking feeling, "No arguments" he warned his brother as he turned to leave. Asher frowned again but didn't argue with him and took one last look at the tree before turning, only when he did so he found his brother was no longer there. "Kain?" he asked looking around, "Kain where did you go?" His eyes searched around as he began feeling unsettled, it wasn't like his brother to play tricks, where did he go? Asher started walking slowly, looking around as his breathing became a little ragged, then hearing a slight sound upon the wind he turned and then froze as his eyes grew in horror of what was before him
