I thought I start the Rate this Ranger threads to help the activity. Starting first is MMPR.
Up first is Jason our original red ranger :p
How would you rate him and why?

It's hard to rate it, believe it or not. He was the first, so that makes him pretty awesome... But given that some rangers have been BETTER than him, I'd have to say that he's average.

You know, I don't really care if he was an original or not. That's never held for much with me. That said, I still think he was a great leader and ranger. He was level headed when he needed to be; very much a thinker which made him one of the better leaders in my opinion. He didn't just jump all the time. Then again, that can also be a weakness of his.
Another thing, he didn't have to just wing it when fighting. He was an accomplished martial artist, and he continued to work at it. He trained which is important when you're trying to save the world. It's something that a lot of the earlier teams did but the practice sorta dwindled down as time passed. It became less of a focus which I've always disliked. Jason didn't lose that focus.
I don't know. I've always just seen him as the person who sort of set the bar for how a ranger should be. He's never been just average in my opinion, but there have been some that were better all together.
I think I'll give him an 8.

He was great and I love him to death(Austin St. John was hott in Zeo and Turbo:nod:) but he never got a chance to do something truly that set him a part from the rest. Zordon gave his position to Tommy for whatever reason and then he just was there and then he left.
It was great that he came back in Zeo and was like this normal person. The Zeo writers made the Rangers a lot more normal and relatable (even if they were still goody goodies) so seeing Jason get a girl friend, be normal, and just be the most powerful Ranger on the team was great. I still remember my younger sister, who had giving up on Power Rangers coming running to the den full speed, having glimpsed him onscreen from another room(this was during his first episode of Zeo). So I can say truthfully that him being there brought old fans back.
That being said . . . a lot of the crappy Rangers we got from the Disney era still isn't worthy enough to lick this Ranger's boots.
I give Jason a 7.
Edit: Will any Power Ranger get a ten from me? The only one I can think of at the top of my head is Kendrix.

I always thought of Jason as a good leader but not great. I think that he is a little above average, but then again there are alot worse Red Rangers below him.
I do agree Stefani when it came to training he had alot of focus and he was always trying to better himself it seemed. He kinda got the shaft though when Tommy showed up but that is a totally different topic.

I gave Jason a 10 because he is, and always will be (IMO) one of the best red rangers of all time. He set the bar for Reds in the future and very few have reached that goal.

Ditto.
I also gave him a ten and so far there's been only two Red Rangers in my opinion who are up to his status but Jason will always be the first. ^_^ Scott is my second fav Red and male Ranger generally. XD

Ya know honestly we can't just judge all rangers by him an put him above everyone else because " he was the first an there for teh best" ...Seriously...Just cause he was the first doesn't mean he was the greatest. He was good yeah that's true. Both in mmpr and zeo but by no means in any way was he the greatest nor the best of all time or anything like that.
On aside note, Austin himself is quite the nice guy.

Agreed, but he is not only one of the best Red Rangers of all time he is also one of the best Rangers in Power Ranger history.
